who remembers the washer dryer set there grandmother own when alive or still alive

My grandmother (mothers side) had a 1954 or 1955 Westinghouse washing machine, similar to Roberts beautiful set in the photo, but her "dryer" was the clothes line in the back yard. When ever she was doing laundry I could be found on the "back porch" watching the washer.... that is until she saw...

Question: Miele 4800 series washer (& dryer) for American market, what’s the good, bad & ugly?

Launderess, thank you! Your knowledge is always greatly appreciated! As I mentioned, I knew these were not the “shining star” of the Miele line up, but couldn’t remember exactly why. As they were only in production for 3-4 years, unfortunately it makes sense the spares supply is limited and...

Question: Miele 4800 series washer (& dryer) for American market, what’s the good, bad & ugly?

I’m thinking about suggesting one of these large capacity washers and matching dryer to some friends. I have a handful of the smaller “Euro size” Miele’s and know those are very solid. I think I remember hearing this 4800 series and the companion dryers had some issues, but I don’t remember...

Request for my first Bob Load certification

Thanks Bob! Everything was soiled / dirty. Among other things, one bowl had a good 2 tablespoons of a thick, chunky spaghetti sauce in it and I put it in the DW w/o removing any of it. Since installing this Bosch dishwasher a year ago, I’ve made a point to intentionally not rinse anything...

Request for my first Bob Load certification

Thanks Glenn. Usually I’ll move the photos to my computer then edit in Photoshop before posting, but this time I (obviously?) posted directly from my phone because I was already at work. Kevin

After Christmas Westinghouse "sale" - FL Spacemates W/gas dryer

These left my garage with 11 other washers & dryers over the weekend. Buh bye..... buh bye now...... However, another washer arrived, which I’ll post in the Deluxe forum later. Kevin

Request for my first Bob Load certification

I humbly submit my application with Photos as evidence. 😁 At least on the lower rack anyway? No before photos, only after, sorry! I think the 3rd rack is a little “too neat” for a “Bob Load” but what the heck. Kevin (Edit: it’s interesting that the photos posted in a different orientation...

After Christmas Westinghouse "sale" - FL Spacemates W/gas dryer

Well, not really a "sale" as they are FREE to who ever wants them AND comes to pick them up! As you can see, they are a 1970's(?) Westinghouse Spacemate FL pair in coppertone! WASHER: the timer works, it tumbles and...

    Live in Whataburgerland? TRY THIS!

Driving long distance to get food - drift If my mom tasted and was impressed by this burger, she might drive to just to go get one! Last year while traveling (by car) she stopped at a truck stop in New Mexico and ended up trying a slice of a “breakfast pizza“. After she got back to Southern...

The Tappan dishwasher made it to the museum

Such a cool, yet odd design. Right! The upper part of the rack is SO weird! I’m guessing the open space between the upper “racks” is where dinner plates would go??? The rack design obviously limits putting in large items in to be washed. I agree, this is screaming for not only a GoPro /...

    Stupid big chicken

Chicken breasts by another name... A few years ago a woman I know (who is an excellent cook, btw) was telling me about some delicious recipe she tried and read off the list of ingredients “something something and 2 lbs of chicken boobs and something something...” I did a mental double take...

Considering buying an "Insta-Pot", are they any good?

Instant-Pot with a “T” Since Instant-Pot started catching everyone’s attention, numerous companies have created their own version of the countertop electric pressure cooker. At least here on the West coast, Best Buy had different brand/model of these on sale for a week at a time and up to...

I have some TV stars! (assuming the scenes don't get edited out)

Amazon Prime access I discovered last night you can watch this show through Amazon Prime (Thanks Thomas!) and watched the first episode. Yes it looks like it’s going to be fun! Yep, I saw the yellow Maytags in the background of the 1963 kitchen scenes, also noticed they didn’t bother to...

    Whirlpool Catalyst Washer Diverter Valve

Common problem? I have a Kenmore Elite version that does the same thing. Sometimes it dribbles more, sometimes it dribbles less. Looking forward hearing if you find a way to resolve this. Kevin
