Glad to hear it all worked out! That Superba is beautiful! The KitchenAid 21/22 series control panels were the best looking ones anyone ever did for a dishwasher IMO. My aunt has a very similar dishwasher (which used to be ours) to the one you are using for parts, except it’s black and a bit...

Kenmore 70 washer hot water only trickles out…

Yay!! Glad to hear you got it fixed! Hopefully, that will be the last repair it needs for a while. Thatwasherguy.

    Maytag washer blew up… AGAIN

Belt not slipping... Does the motor slide freely on its track, and how much force is being applied by the springs? I once attempted to modify one with four springs instead of two, and ended up tripping the thermal overload when it went into spin. Rust on the track can also cause issues (had...

    Maytag washer blew up… AGAIN

As someone who grew up using a 1976 Maytag set... That does look overloaded to me (note the clothes above the water line), which would explain slow agitation (this is also commonly caused by thickened transmission oil or cold temperatures). However, it shouldn’t cause any sort of capacitor...

Kenmore 70 washer hot water only trickles out…

And a valve. Hope this helps, Thatwasherguy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195730875343?epid=2170051474&hash=item2d927823cf:g:w4kAAOSwQAJkSKhC&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4Oa%2BZVTGn6dG4qLVkepZEZu1eAnaQaLoup1IbhKJbFbtwEyqdboYd5i7TcWfR1yp%2BSAEclX4a14RXl7gv63zIUzmN4gGYzrUWSWRgO5PHHWxJQxT

Kenmore 70 washer hot water only trickles out…

From those symptoms... I would guess that there is a failed inlet valve, given that it happened so suddenly with clear hoses, and that only the hot side is doing it. This is a very easy and cheap repair that you can do yourself. I’ve included a link to a video showing the process.

    Thoughts on these items?

Congrats on your find! Those all look like wonderful machines! As for your question about getting rid of the Harvest Gold set, I would advise against it, especially if they still work. I had that same exact washer (A108) in white, and that thing lasted from 1976 until 2013 when the...

    Frigidaire Refrigerator Explodes

Looks to me like... Someone finally decided to take disposal costs of planned obsolescence into consideration, and invented the world’s first self-recycling fridge! No need for the crusher anymore! Seriously though, that could have been really bad. I’m glad no one was hurt. Thatwasherguy.

What happens if you don't replace a bad bearing?

From what I’ve seen… They will usually just lock up and won’t do anything, or will start leaking so badly that the machine is unusable. My Aunt had bad bearings in her washer, and she ran it for over a year before the bearings seized, and a family friend used theirs for about the same amount...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

YAY!!!! So happy to hear that you got your vintage washer! That era of Kenmore used my favorite console that any of the direct drives sported. I just love that wood grain top and black on black color scheme. Given the build quality of these machines, that set should last you a very long...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

That’s a cool looking Kenmore! My great aunt has a Kenmore washer from 1993 almost exactly like the one you pictured. It has been used regularly it’s entire life, and it still going strong 30 years later with no major repairs. The dryer is wonderful as well. Those whirlpool built dryers with...

    LA612 lip seal

You are correct, there is no lip seal. When I rebuilt the transmission in my 1978 Maytag, I ordered both seals, thinking I could use the lip seal as well as the O-ring. I found out very quickly that this is not the case. On the pre 1986 transmissions, there is no slot for the lip seal, just a...

    My First Wringer!!!!!

I’ve looked at the machine in more detail… The good news is that neither the transmission or wringer head are totally locked up. When I manually turned the belt, the agitator moved as it should when engaged, and remained neutral when disengaged. The wringer works in both forward and reverse...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

Logixx… That Electrolux is almost EXACTLY like the one my friend has that she loves! The only difference is that hers is stainless. I looked up some videos of them in action, and it looks like a promising design from a performance standpoint. Thatwasherguy.

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

Model numbers… There are many different model numbers for the Whirlpool direct drive. They were sold under many brands other than whirlpool, including (among others) Estate, Kenmore, Inglis, Roper, Maytag, and KitchenAid. Some models I can think of off the top of my head are the Whirlpool...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

Great vintage washers... There were a lot that fit the bill of cleaning well and being reliable. Although, some of them are getting harder to find parts for, so that may be a factor to consider as well. The two main platforms that still have decent parts availability are the Whirlpool direct...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

I would say… That the best thing about the top load Speed Queen is it’s performance. It operates like a 1970’s top loader, and produces similar results as such. I should warn you, however, that it doesn’t operate this way on the Normal/Eco cycle. This cycle reduces the water temperature in...

Suggestions on buying a new front load washer and dryer

First off, Welcome to the forum!! Second, you are correct, Speed Queen has some of if not the best washers today. If you are okay with the high price tag and lack of an internal water heater, then go for it. I fully understand your frustration with the Maytag Bravos, as I had one a few years...
