    Cool Vintage GE Stove

That looks to be a nice range, Bellalaundry. It would be a 1959 or later model, as the 1957-58 models used a different clock that was round. 1959 was the first year for the rectangular clock, at least in the US. Not sure if the Canadian models got the new style clock then, or not. The cabinet on...

    Number PULEAZE! Part Seven:

The 1966 AT&T ad made me think of my friend Mike. I met him around 1982 when he was an ESS tech for Cincinnati Bell Telephone. At the time he was 36, recently divorced, and had three kids. Unfortunately I lost contact with him a couple years later, and didn't locate him until 2021. I sent him a...

The most stylish "Cadillac of washers"?

I've always liked Frigidaire's Honey Beige color. Those machines look good in it.

    Turquoise GE Wall Oven

They came in the following colors: White, Canary Yellow, Petal Pink, Turquoise Green, Cadet Blue, Woodtone Brown, and Brushed Chrome.

    Magic Chef DW

That ad is out of the Jackson, MS newspaper. I vaguely remember Sheppard Building Supply, as it was a few blocks from my aunt's house. I think that was one of the places we went when she was looking for a new dishwasher in 1968, but ended up getting it at Sears.

    Turquoise GE Wall Oven

    That's really nice! It's a 1955 - 1958 model. They were redesigned in 1959.

    Pink Westinghouse Wall Oven

That's one of the few 30" wall ovens made at that time, as most were 24" or 27" wide. Looks like it needs a new gasket for the "Miracle Sealed" oven. I see it has a tubular bottom element, unlike the coil type in my 1953 Westinghouse 30" range. I don't know if the oven shown always had that type...

    Resurrection of the Whirlpools

My 2004 Whirlpool Calypso has a "Heavy Duty" cycle, as one of its many.

    S'Norge gas dryer

That looks like the horrible Magic Chef dryer my neighbor Missy detested from the day she got it.

    Fascinating booklet from General Electric

While type AC (armored cable) is still manufactured, it has been largely superseded by MC (metal clad), which is available in several variations.

    Kohler washers

While looking at a 1929 Kohler plumbing fixture catalog online, I saw they made (or sold) a wringer washer. It even came in all their fixture colors! They also had a combination sink-clothes washer, similar to their sink-dishwasher...

    Fascinating booklet from General Electric

Published in 1925, promoting modern house wiring systems. The drawings are extra classy! https://archive.org/details/homeofhundredcom00gene/mode/2up

    What is the worst?

Worst dryer Not from personal experience, but my neighbor Missy had a Norge based Magic Chef electric dryer she absolutely despised from the day she got it.

    Kitchentek Washer?

That's a nice dryer. It's definitely a GE product, and uses knobs and some trim pieces from Hotpoint models. Don't see enough of the washer to tell much. Might be SQ as mentioned above, if not then probably WCI.

Apartment Size Vintage GM Frigidaire Range

It is most likely a 1946 - 1949 model. The earlier version from 1938 - 1942 was constructed differently, with the two surface units on the right, and the oven door inset into the cabinet. The 1950 and later models used the thicker Radiantube elements. These little ranges were popular after...

tearing down an old hotpoint- and question of proper sleeve bearing lubricant.

Pete, it looks like you have your work cut out for you. You might try CLR to remove the rust stains. Bar Keepers Friend should also work, but take more effort. Hope you get it going.

    Modern Living: Part Seventeen

National Homes There's a subdivision a couple blocks away that has a lot of the "Cadet" and similar model houses, and they were built around 1956. A few of them are fixed up nice, and several have been added to. However, a good number of them have become decrepit, giving the neighborhood a run...

    Spring 2025 Haul

I've heard Dixie Chilli is excellent, but haven't been. What did you think of Jungle Jim's? They have two locations, and I usually go to Eastgate, though I sometimes visit the original Fairfield location, which I always get lost in. Planning to go to Eastgate soon. If I'd known late last...

    Spring 2025 Haul

Sounds like it was a worthwhile trip. The turquoise dryer is nice looking. Where did you go for Cincinnati chilli? Skyline and Gold Star are the local chains with multiple locations, but the famous place is Camp Washington Chilli, in it's original location - though different building - since...
