Time to order your Holiday LEDs

Waiting for my shipment of c9's to arrive any day now. I ordered a box of 25 classic 's and 5 extra's for breakage and then realized I use TWO string to outline the garage roof. Oh well, 1/2 and 1/2 this year lol

    Coffee

I've used San Fransico Bay kcups before and thought the coffee was delicious, have not tried it in regular ground but I can't imagine it wouldn't be good. When we brew a pot on weekends, we use Peets Major Dickason's or Big Bang decaf, both delicious.

    mid-80s cars...

Merkur Was just thinking about them the other day. My best friend worked for Ford in Dearborn and he and his brother were able to get Merkur's on the x plan. One had the XR4TI and the other the Scorpio. The XR4TI was an awful piece of junk. Always in the shop and always leaking something...

    Micro/Thermal Ranges

When my ex and I remodeled the kitchen in our Brooklyn condo, we put a Thermador Micro/Thermal oven in, along with a Thermador Range so we had triple ovens ( he liked to bake and I thought it was overkill but he won) What an awful peice of junk it turned out to be. Broke constantly and a bad...

    Childhood home /vintage things

When I'm occasionally killing time at work, I'll google addresses I used to live at or check them out on Realtor. After my Dad died in 1970, my Mom remarried 2 years later to an Air Force friend of his and we all packed up from the Detroit area and moved to rural Sterling Illinois. 45 minutes...

Brady Bunch house sells for MUCH less than asking

And as I said before, HGTV took a perfectly lovely, intact, mid century modern house and DESTROYED it to make it look like a house that never existed. Shame on them !

"I'm Earl Scheib and I'll paint any car any color for just . . .

My Uncle Ed had a 78 LTD Landau in a yellow-cream color with a nice tan velour interior. He really liked the car and held onto it for a long time. As we all know, 70's and 80's cars were not built to last, especially in Michigan winters. I think about 82 or 83 he took it Earl Sheib and had it...

    Presenting My "New" Vintage Cooktop

Love it !! I had the same cooktop in my house in Chicago. but with a Thermador down draft vent. I always thought is was so cool to see it pop up out of the counter. It was a very good cooktop. Sadly, I always thought the griddle didn't work until just before I sold the house I discovered it...

What Temperature Is Your AC Thermostat Set To?

We're usually 74 or 73 and a couple well placed fans (vintage of course) to circulate the air. After 15 years of 4 window units, the noise, the uneven temps, and lugging them in and out twice a year, I had central air put in 2 years ago. It is the single nicest improvement I've done to this...

The house used for The Brady Bunch external shots is for sale

I Hated this show on HGTV. They took a perfectly beautiful, almost original, mid century modern home and RUINED it to make this stupid, useless home that NEVER existed. What an absolute waste.

Everything You Remember And Miss About ... Sears

I STILL have a Sears Charge, although its Citibank now. It's my oldest account, opened in 1983 and I just don't have the heart to close it. I'll use a balance transfer option every once in a while just to keep it active.

    Garden hoses galore

Update on the Flextreme hose from Costco I took it back the first day I used it. What an awful hose. Wouldn't uncoil no matter how long it was in the sun. Impossible to wind up. And for a kink proof hose, it had 2 kinks in it. I bought another Aqua Joe hose and also will repair my 30 year...

    Garden hoses galore

I just bought the Flextreme from Costco, it was on sale so what the heck. Haven't used it yet, its to cold. Will see how it works out. I've tried all the new style hoses....shrinking, fire fighter style, stainless braided. The only one I sort of liked was the fire fighter syle, but it got...

    Thoughts on this Kenmore Dryer

One of the best dryers I ever had, bought new in 1999 with the matching washer. Had to sell it when I bought this house since we don't have gas.

    Kroger to aquire Albertson's

I work for Kings as a catering manager (11 years now) . We were a small NJ owned chain that also owned Balducci's. Our executive team had some pretty lofty goals through the years and kept borrowing money and spending it on remodels and new properties. The company was sold a couple times, with...

    Off Balance Switches

I don't know about that, but the off balance buzzer on our 1969 Kenmore 700 scared the crap out of me as a kid. It was so loud !!!!

    Vintage GE Window AC

My "ex house" had 2 of those when we bought it in 1998. The house was built in 54. Both built into the wall, one was the "Thin Line" Thought they were very cool with the circular vents and hidden door for controls, even had an air freshener bottle built in. They both worked well for a couple...

    Kenmore Top Loader?

My sister has this exact washer and matching dryer, and I was just using it this weekend. You can get a fast agitate on any water level setting by using the "heavy duty" cycle. You can get a warm rinse on normal or heavy duty but not on perm press. I'm not sure about the neutral drain on Perm...
