I have one, My uncles relative or friend (can’t remember) had a Maytag dependable care washer that he bought new in the 90s It worked perfectly for 9 years but then the transmission quit on them, so they called the repairman and as it turns out they forgot to put oil in it from the factory!

Hello, I have the opportunity to get this Maytag for $30, it doesn’t have the pitman transmission like I wanted but it is TOL (for Australia anyways), or should I wait longer until a lower end pitman transmission machine comes up?

Check to see if the wig wag is working if one the solenoids isn’t working that will be your issue, otherwise I don’t know, I don’t have any experience with these machines whatsoever Photo of wig wags:

I agree with potato chips, Get a 3rd breaker (1 for both maytags and 2 for the Kenmores). I run all of my machines off of one breaker and can run one 9 amp dryer and a few washers, I have a 15 amp 240v breaker. 20amp is low for 110/120v.

Hello, I said in another thread about this dryer but it’s not switching to cool-down, when I hit cool it just turns off the element and motor but the ON light stays on. There is a separate control board with only 2 components, wonder if that’s the issue?

I think the element staying on when it ended it’s cycle as t actually happening, because I let it run for 20s and then turned it off and pulled the plug and when I was pulling it apart the whole machine was hot to the touch. But not having a cool-down/air dry cycle is an issue. I will take the...

May not have been clear I meant the heating element shield also the cooling globe is the light that indicates if it’s on cooling heating or if it’s on. I am going to buy one of those watt meters. I might have a go at pulling it apart today otherwise it will have to wait

Thanks gizmo. These Simpson dryers are the only dryers I have worked on, I agree that the drum belts are a pain to get on. But accessing the timer is ver annoying and getting the back panel out of the way is annoying to do without a photo. Never worked on any Hoover dryer, but I doubt they are...

There was no lint filter, don’t have any spares for this model. Just a question, how do I remove the circuit board on this machine as it’s not switching to cool-down and the element is staying on.

Another issue I’ve found is that the dryer doesn’t switch to cool-down and just turns on the buzzer and then ends the cycle, also doesn’t seem to switch off the element or that could just be me.
