    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

I think there’s some good news? Upon deeper research and inspection, it looks like the thermal fuse blew. I have another on order for cheap. Thank goodness. I will need to comb through the wire harness before firing up the new one. I’m hoping the old fuse just blew from age and not bad...

    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

DED Well that was quick. She abruptly died last night mid cycle! Unresponsive. I suspect it’s the control board. Which really surprised me. These old school Powercleans have pretty rugged electronics. And after all the work I put in, I feel betrayed. I’ve not had time to deeply inspect it...

    The downfall of Philips

Philips has really gone the way to GE and un-conglomerated themselves. They really got out of a lot of home and personal electronics. They even sold lightbulbs. Sold off Hue. All they got left consumer facing is Sonicare and Norelco.

    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

Packed up potential BobLoad(tm) Made some creamy potato veggie soup and ended up with this grungy and fully packed load in the 25. Featuring the thunderbolt arm. Dual level loading in the top rack. A few stacked items (lids) in the lower. And the grungy soup pot. All Set to Soak & Scrub...

    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

Cookware galore Fun little update. I had a hefty cookware load tonight after spaghetti. Made two kinds of pasta and a beefy red sauce. Filled the machine with all sorts of goopyness. Ran it on Soak & Scrub. With the long 30min PreWash. Not a serious contender for a BobLoad, since ther's still...

    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

Hey thanks gang! It was a fun restore and I’m enjoying the machine. I did have one question on the Soak&Scrub cycle with the long thermal pre-wash. I think it’s concluded these days, that loads with ample amounts of tomato sauce, when in prolonged hot water, can stain plastics. So I’ve been...

small question what would be the chances that maytag would seperate from whirlpool?

WP would just phase out the Maytag brand. At this lol there is no Maytag. It’s a badge line of products made in WP factories, of WP designs, with WP parts. There’s literally nothing to spin off.

    Rescued KUDS25 Dishwasher

Hi all, This post has been a few months overdue, since I purchased a really nice (outwardly) KUDS25 PowerClean based KitchenAid Supurba dishwasher. However, once it was brought home and fired up, boy did it make a racket. As well as had a limescale coated pump. So the renovation ensued! I've...

    Nationwide gas stove ban?

Oh my god nobody is banning anything. One poop head runs his mouth on what could be considered down the road. And everyone loses their minds over it with media fanning the flames. Before anything happens there will be more studies. There will also be a required public comments period that can...

Whirlpool Direct Drive discontinuing more parts

Apparently many don’t know how companies work. If they weren’t coerced to do so, they’d stop offering parts soon after the models cease production. We should be so lucky many of the appliance companies still offer parts so long after sales end. It’s certainly not in their capitalist, or...

    Nationwide gas stove ban?

Here was a really interesting and comprehensive discussion on the gas stove thing.

    Cascade Professional

Looking at the ingredients list, looks like it’s missing protease enzyme that domestic Cascade has. But this does have amylase. Looks like this is now a phosphate free formula also.

Looking for a new dish washer

If you’re looking for a dishwasher today that doesn’t have a filter you need to clean on a periodic basis, you’re limited to a few models. On the low end is the Frigidaire line, with their big plastic self cleaning filter disk on the floor of the tub. They also have a soft food grinder. Next is...

Adora GE Profile dishwasher model #PDT715SMN0ES

This is normal for GE dishwashers of that design. The first prewash is a “pulse” wash. It sprays the load alternating levels in short bursts. Now if the pump is squealing during those pulses, then it might be a bearing issue.

    Most Maddening Washer Commerical

Lol sounds like you never met any advertising, marketing people. They care ZILCH about any what you just mentioned. The entire goal is to sell the product (doesn’t even matter what it is) for the highest price, at the lowest cost, quickly. It’s all glitz and emotion. Tech and specs do not sell...

In your opinion, when was the true beginning of the end for Maytag?

I blame the Norgetags and all the goofy acquisitions moreso than i’d blame the Neptune. The Neptune was a good product and was really the US’s first introduction to front loaders for a whole generation. My aunts had the first 3000 series and it did well for several years. But then they had the...

    Whirlpool Buys InSinkErator!

Oh s%*+…… It does say they will operate as-is in Wisconsin as an owned entity. Not unlike how Emerson ran them.

Electrolux FL dryer gas valve failure gas odor in the house

I actually think this might be happening to my EFLS627 gas dryer. It came with the house and is between 5-6yrs old. When I run it I’ve noticed a quick whiff of gas smell. It’s intermittent and was NOT ever there before. I’ll be monitoring it in case it gets to repair point.

    worst commercial washer and dryer

HAHA. OH boy. Mine will be an unpopular opinion. The worst commercial machines I’ve used are actually Speed Queens. Now, it could partly be due to the management company’s neglect. But the SQ machines in my old apt complex in college were ALWAYS broken. I’ve returned to my clothes sitting in a...

Why Do All Speed Queens Spray Rinse While Full of Water?

I’ll just chime in saying that there might be a misconception here how large manufacturers work. Many of them are very marketing-driven. Secondly, manufacturing cost-driven. If marketing says we need electronics to compete with X competitor. Or a focus group leaned towards people wanting to...
