Hey guys.
What was the worst commercial washer and dryer you've ever used? The worst I've ever used was the Maytag energy advantage washer and dryer.
First of all, the washer wouldn't fill with enough water at the large setting, forcing me to do smaller loads. The dryers were just as bad. They couldn't handle a big load. I had to run loads 2-3 times. I have had enough and went to Big Al's laundry and used their Huebsch washers and dryers and got them done. The washer took 25 minutes and the dryers took 30 minutes. FLAWLESS!
What are your thoughts? Jerome
P.S. These are the ones at SFA at Griffith Hall with Big Al's just down the street. They do take credit cards.

Anything VMW based for commercial use. Completely moronic of Whirlpool to discontinue the direct drives, the VMW machines have been nothing but trouble since Whirlpool introduced them and aren’t easily to work on since the machine has to be moved away from the wall and laid down to work on which is what you had to do to the older belt drives when you had to replace a belt or pump or do any other work to it. The transmissions in the VMW machines aren’t known for holding up, a few people on here have deal with the transmission failing on there and had to go through quite a debacle to get it fixed.

The worst machine I’ve ever used was

A speed queen front loader, not a single spin or anything, thankfully they had the extractor right next to the machine, so the attendant transferred all of the laundry into the extractor, and it all did that as a cold wash, not going to that place again because the laundry didn’t really come out clean and the laundry came sopping wet out of the speed queen washing machine, normally I’ve used them and they’ve been alright but that place I’m better off going and using a tub to wash it

It can be in a dorm as well. By the way, these were direct drive Maytags. It never filled the tub all the way to the top. They only filled 2/3 ways full. There were no spray rinses whatsoever.

The clothes would just sit there getting thrashed in the water at the "full" setting and I use full loosely, because it would stop 2-3 inches short of the rim of the basket. This lead me to believe there was something was wrong. Their dryers which were also Maytag didn't dry worth a damn. Towels and jeans were the worst offenders because the so-called turbo vent technology just circulated warm air, forcing me to run the machine 2-3 times. What a waste of water and electricity.
Did I mention there was no spray rinse? That was stupid of Whirlpool/Maytag to delete rinses. Do they want us to wear detergent- laden clothes with softener? I could see softener mixed through the water, but they should've left the spray rinses and water levels alone! I am serious! I was so AGITATED to the point where I decided to take my clothes to the laundry and do it myself. It only took me 25 minutes to wash and 30 minutes to dry! No messing around! I'm done ranting. Now off my soapbox.

HAHA. OH boy. Mine will be an unpopular opinion.
The worst commercial machines I’ve used are actually Speed Queens.
Now, it could partly be due to the management company’s neglect. But the SQ machines in my old apt complex in college were ALWAYS broken. I’ve returned to my clothes sitting in a half tub of soapy water numerous times. I’ve had CoinMach refund me a dozen times to the pin they just stopped. And they still owe me $4 from 2005!
The dryers less so, but I had a few broken dryers also. Mostly they just baked the crap out of my clothes to where they sometimes smelled like dark toast.

The best machines I used were at a laundromat in town where I eventually went. They were a mix of DC and Neptune Maytags. Yup. You heard me. Neptunes. They were never broken.

I would've chosen...

I would've chosen the Dexter machines had they taken cards. The Maytags would always break down. The GE's were bad too at CTC. They had a pathetic spray rinse and sluggish agitation. Their dryers were crap too. They left your clothes damp even on the cottons setting. The GE's were deplorable not just on their performance, but their noises also.
