Hotpoint New Generation top loader - model 96702

Spiral gyrator and the various models Hi all Mike - good point about the 'Spiraclean' agitator (or is it a gyrator - Hotpoint couldn't seem to decide!) - the Hotpoint first appeared in 1963 - maybe one of our US friends can tell us when the first GE appeared with a spiral agitator - did we get...

Hotpoint New Generation top loader - model 96702

The F&P AEI Top Loader Hi all Paul mentions a thread about the 'down under' version of the AEI top loader - I started it ages ago, and here it is! A rather nice looking pair based on the 1502 model. Hotpoint have been in and out of bed with GE several times over the decades. The UK top-loader...

    UK Hotpoint 1504....

Hydraulic Hotpoint Thermo on ebay Hi Keith That hydraulic twintub thermo is on ebay - not sure if it is interchangeable with the top-loader, but it might well be (I think the electric flyback is). Otherwise it might be of interest to someone with an older Hotpoint twintub for stock...

    UK Hotpoint 1504....

What type of thermostat? Hi Keith That is such a cool washer - great to see one still alive! What type of thermostat does it have do you know? If I recall correctly, the 1504 had a hydraulic fly-back thermostat, though some later ones may have had the later electric trip-type ones (thinking...

Euro wash times vs. US wash times...

Temperature controlled fill Hi all - wow what a 'hot' topic (sorry couldn't resist...) :-) MRX - temperature controlled fill has been around for a long time, as others have noted here - for example Hotpoint introduced 'temperature sensed fill' in the New Generation series washers in the mid...

    Maytag Bravos with a heater

Hi to US friends... Has anyone seen or experienced this Maytag? I'm really hoping they bring it to the UK, now they've added the all important heater! Does it perform well, and do they make a 220v model for any markets I wonder? Any thought most welcome We had the Neptune in the UK (with...

Euro wash times vs. US wash times...

Hot water for Europe, and why we have front-loaders... Mrx, I'm afraid you are a bit off the mark with your reasoning about cold-fill only. There are a variety of reasons why EU machines are (now) cold-fill, and one is the tradition that in many parts of Europe, central hot-water systems were...

Euro wash times vs. US wash times...

Long wash times - a recent phenomenon European h-axis washers have very long wash cycles, largely dictated by the requirements to meet EU performance ratings - the AAA rating being the nominal 'best'. Before the advent of EU ratings, h-axis washers in Ireland and the UK had significantly...

    Speed Queen Wringer In CA

Can anyone age that Speed Queen Hi guys Is anyone able to tell the age of that Speed Queen - my grandmother had a machine exactly like that through til the 1970s/1980s in Ireland. I'm guessing it came in the 50s - their house (like many in rural Ireland) only got electricity in the late 40s...

    Attention Twin Tub Fans

Hi Eddy Two-speed twin-tub!?! Wow - how is that achieved - is there a two-speed motor, or is it mechanically done? Very advanced - does the wash tub empty like the UK ones? On the UK models, there is a connection outlet in the front left-hand corner of the wash-tub and one attached the...

    Attention Twin Tub Fans

Eddy - That's a fantastic looking twin tub you've got there - looks really nice in Avocado too - have you put a load through it yet? I love the Speed Queen type agitator - like a mini-version of the old commercial SQ top loaders that were used over here. Mike - do you know of any sources for...

V-Zug Laundry Appliances now in UK...!!!!!!

Wow Mike - very cool looking machines and an impressive price-tag. They look like they have a really commercial style build quality, and an amazing range of programmes! Do you think they'll make a dent in the Miele market here?

NordMende relaunched as a brand in Ireland

Hi MRX Of course you're right on the button - I guess KAL are effectively big dealers of some of the posh brands - interesting diversion though into a whole new brand - it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Have they appeared in the shops yet? I'm over in October and will have to take...

i got a new washer again (ONIX)

Haier or Bosch I'm with Mike on the Haier suggestion (especially the dispener), though I did think the Haier's I've seen look rather like Bosch clones anyway - I wonder if they are licensed productions?

NordMende relaunched as a brand in Ireland

Hi MRX Hard to believe this brand is back - do you remember it as a low budget AV brand in the 70s and 80s? I remember it being called "no-mend-me" by a dealer back home - the first of the disposable brands! Seems like KAL are taking over the appliance world in Ireland...

    Advice from UK guys

I'd suggest a Maytag (i.e. Asko) if you want a front loader - stylish, exceptionally well built (better even than Miele imho). Have a look at the UK website and see what you think - link below. You could get the v.v.v. expensive 2000rpm, though I'd go for the 9602 at about £700 - better value...
