Front loaders or HE top loaders - Which would you choose?

I would go with a classic topload I knew someone was going to say that but it wasn’t my question and doesn’t answer the point. You can’t get traditional agitator toploaders here and from what I’ve seen, there is an even split between FL and HE TL washers. I was wondering what people who have...

Front loaders or HE top loaders - Which would you choose?

Hi all, I’m currently on holiday in Mauritius visiting my partners family. I’ve noticed during my time here that the market is a pretty even split between front load and HE top load machines. This got me thinking about why people would choose one or the other. In the U.K, we have no choice...

    Introducting Persil SmartWash

Also, there’s nothing yet to say if this will use powder or liquid. As for the bio element, it’s likely that one of the other cartridges will contain some sort of enzyme mix for stain removal.

    Introducting Persil SmartWash

Does this think really exist in the UK Read the first post. It’s from a survey conducted by Unilever. I don’t know what stage of development it’s at. Rolls - as I said, it’s in development. A lot of the questions on the survey were about what detergents you use for different loads. This could...

    Introducting Persil SmartWash

Hi folks, I was recently asked to complete and online survey regarding some new technology from Persil. I’m not sure at what stage of development this is in, but it certainly looks like an interesting concept.

    Hard Towels

I’m with Al on the dryer. Towels are the one thing that always go in the dryer. I could live on a breezy summer meadow for 365 days a year but would still put towels in the dryer

You can't get passed a detergent isle when in a supermar I had to do so the other day when we were in Sainsbury's and in a hurry. I started shifting towards the detergents and hubby just glared at me, so I had to begrudgingly miss it out lol!

I haven't tried the powder on dark colours, only on whites and light colours. Neutral is essentially the same as UK Persil Bio but with no scent or optical brighteners.

I found the smell a bit too strong, I'm not a fan of heavily scented detergents. I really love the Neutral Bio as it has absolutely no scent, although being Unilever made, it's not really an eco detergent. As for non-bio, it has its uses. Non bio liquid tends to be good for more delicate items...

kitchen glass cloths I need to move that cloth, actually, it's doing my head in. It's hanging up in the laundry room but keeps getting in the way. And every time, I get annoyed and then forget to move it lol! The Splosh Bio powder and Ecover Bio liquid are my current go-to detergents. Powder...

    Fabric Softener dilemma

I stopped using fabric softener recently and my husband to be hasn't even noticed yet. We've come some things that need it though, like my work jumpers which are quite scratchy and attract fluff if I don't use any softener, but for the bulk of our washing now, I don't use any.

Hi Everyone, NickUK's post in the Lenor/Downy thread got me thinking that we've not had a detergent stash thread for a while, so thought I'd start one. Here is what's currently in our laundry room. We've been an eco household for over 2 years now, so they're all eco alternatives. The fun...

    Sainsbury's Bio powder

Hi Alex, Hit and miss to be honest. The laundry detergents are excellent and some of the spray cleaners are good but I found the stuff like toilet cleaner and washing up liquid wasn't very good. But the laundry stuff is great, certainly the best eco alternative detergent I've used. Chris

    Sainsbury's Bio powder

The Sainsbury's concentrated bio in the self-dosing bottle is pretty much identical to Splosh powder, which I'm currently using. The Splosh concept is that you order a set of refillable bottles for your cleaning products, and then just buy refills which are cheaper and have no plastic waste...

    Flymo and Other Hover Mowers

Good lord, we used to have one of those Qualcast Concords when I was a kid! It made a very distinctive noise. Flymo's never lasted long for us, they always seemd to pack up within a few years. We had far better luck with Qualcast, although one of our neighbours had a Flymo for years that I had...
