What a bargain, Adam, well done! I've considered upgrading our W562 but I'm waiting until it hits 10 years old.

    Miele W4840

people in Europe get along fine with smaller washers Absolutely true, but that's purely because we're used to them. Front loaders have always dominated our market, so it's not even thought of by the general consumer that any other type of washer would be better or worse. There's pro's & con's...

Hotpoint 2004 and 2005 laundry brochures

I can't remember what it was. It was 1100rpm spin. The bearings were going in it when we met and it died completely after a few months.

Hotpoint 2004 and 2005 laundry brochures

My partner had some sort of WF washer when I met him. It broke a few months after we got together and was replaced with a Beko, which was then sold when we moved in together and I brought the Miele with me.

    ACDO washing powder.

I don't like the current scent either Skip powder in France is Unilever's TOL brand and is the same formula as Persil Bio in the UK but with a different scent. It's much nicer - smells a bit like Persil Performance. It's in a blue box like our non-bio, but it is biological.

    Ecover Biological & Colour Liquids

Hi Ben, We went completely eco on all cleaning products and cosmetics about 2 years ago. However, I've still been using Persil Bio powder as I hadn't found an eco alternative that washed and rinsed as well...until now. I'm currently using Ecover Bio liquid for darks and Splosh powder for...

    Ecover Biological & Colour Liquids

It's on offer again at the moment Ben - £6 for 42 washes. I'm currently using it alongside Splosh biological powder which is fab! Paul, I agree about Ecover Laundry Bleach. It is essentially the same as all these oxy clean and vanish products, but it's cheaper, biodegradable and suitable for...

How did you start your washing machine interests and what's your memories with being a washer fan?

I haven't got a clue how it started. It's not just washing machines for me either, it spreads to vacuum cleaners too. My Mum tells me that as soon as I could walk, I was either pulling myself up to the washer door or pushing the vacuum around. And it just never went away really.

    Ecover Biological & Colour Liquids

Here's the colour liquid. I haven't tried this one yet. It's the same as the bio but contains "Dye Transfer Inhibitor Polymer" to stop loose dye particles from transferring. Neither the bio or colour bio contain OBA's

    Ecover Biological & Colour Liquids

Hi folks, Some of you might have seen already but Ecover have launched Bio and colour liquids (instead of just non bio). I've been wanting to test this for a while but only just got the chance. I've been using the non bio to wash black jeans as it has high surfactant count but no OBA's, so it...

    Bad bearings on Chinese Zanussi

Hello and welcome to the group! I can't offer much advise in the way of repairing your current machine. As the other guys have said, it's not a proper Electrolux made machine. If you're looking to replace it, Miele are probably the best widely available machine's you can get these days and...

    ACDO washing powder.

I love ACDO powder, I think it's a great detergent. It is non-bio but it's quite bleach heavy, I found it very good for hot, white washes. And being soap based, it uses far less artificial or synthetic ingredients than most mainstream detergents. I haven't bought it in a long while though, as...

Laundry detergent enzymes & skin irritation

Well Mike, I guess ultimately people just don't like change! As for Daz being the best powder, I beg to differ - I was never overly impressed with it's cleaning abilities. Sure, it's packed full of bleaching agents but only 1 enzyme and a lower concentration of surfactants than TOL Ariel &...
