UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

Hi Ben, Liam is spot on, Persil Bio is my detergent of choice. But I do agree that between Persil and Ariel, there isn't much in it in terms of performance. I'm on the flip side to what Liam said, I think Ariel is the more potent of the 2. I'm not overly fond of P&G products and tend to avoid...

There's also a whole load of Radion Sun Fresh chatter on this thread. http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?33615_7

remember Radion Sunfresh? See above - there's a whole discussion about it. Radion Sun Fresh became Surf Sun Fresh after it was discontinued. The "new" Radion is name only and when I looked at the ingredients list it was >5% of everything, so I wouldn't expect it to be much good. On par with...

Breaks down guar gum It does a good job too, as I discovered when I spilt bolognese sauce all over a white tablecloth!

UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

I wouldn't have said Lever Bros were directly responsible for the hype around Non-Bio. Persil was always a non-bio detergent right up until 1983. It was only on the back of Ariel Automatic hitting the shops in 82 and taking the Automatic market by storm, after P&G's original automatic detergent...

    Dryer sheets in europe

A wise move, Richard! I actually make my own air fresheners, it's really easy. You can make whatever scents you like then too. All you need is distilled water (I get mine out of the dryer condenser tank or the dehumidifier), essential oils of your choice and some form of odorless spirt - you...

UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

RE: Bold My dislike of Bold is for 2 reasons really. I never found it washed anywhere near as well as other detergents, but this is reflected in it's lower price tag. I'm not a fan of detergents which over-emphasise the scent factor. As far as I'm concerned, washing powder should smell like...

UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

cellulase doesn't contribute any actual cleaning, the addition of cellulase to the washing powder breaks down micro fibrils on cotton, brightening the color of the washed clothes. During use, small fibers are raised from the surface of cotton thread, resulting in a change in the texture of the...

    Hoover Logic 1300 A3632

Lovely machine, Mikey, and one with lots of memories behind it for me. My aunt had this machine for absolutely years, with the bog standard Hoover Autosense dryer stacked on top of it. It only got replaced in the last year with a Bosch, as I recently found out.

Radion The Radion brand was discontinued, but for years, the formula lived on as yellow Surf. Rather than ditch the detergent altogether, it was absorbed into another brand.

That's the thing with non-bio powders, they tend to be more bleach heavy to compensate for the lack of enzymes. Good for boil washing, not so good at lower temps

Not traditionally. Surf always used to be marketed as being a no-nonsense detergent. High performing without the high price tag. In the late 90's, Surf powder boxes included a list of 99 stains that it could remove first time. Only in recent years has it focused more or scent

Cheaper brands contain only 1 enzyme Some of our not-so-cheap detergents only contain 1 enzyme. Bold and Surf are both mid-range detergents, but only contain 1 enzyme. Whereas Ariel and Persil both contain 4.

    Persil VS Skip-Similarities and differencies

However,it didn't become such a fuss about it here That doesn't surprise me at all. British people love to complain and blow everything out of proportion. Everything is always absolutely OUTRAGEOUS and UNACCEPTABLE.

UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

Do most people in the UK have sensitive skin? There is a huge myth in the UK that non-bio detergents are better for sensitive skin or kinder for babies/children. Despite studies proving this to be nonsense, it's still very much embedded into people's minds. Infact, GP's in the UK recommend...

UK Detergents - Facts & Figures

Good afternoon Campers! One of my colleagues in the sales department at work let me snoop around their Statista account earlier today and I managed to pull off some detergent info. Persil is still the biggest selling detergent brand in the UK, but this is split across it's bio and non-bio...

Washer In As Time Goes By

If I remember correctly, the only time you see the washing machine, it's a Zanussi Quick & Clean. I believe the dishwasher changes - earlier series have an Ariston, later series have a Zanussi Aquasave.
