    Son who loves washers and dryers

    Well this is a familiar story for us, isn't it? I think we've all been that child in our younger days. Debby, bravo for allowing your son to persue his interests. My parents were never fans of my hobby and would try to discourage it as much as possible, but that just made things worse for me...

    Dryer sheets in europe

    I'm going to cause a stir here, apologies. Dryer sheets, scent beads and heavy-scent fabric softeners (and detergents, for that matter) are the work of the devil! Anything heavily perfurmed is a no-no. They're packed full of artificial perfumes, chemical scent boosters and preservatives. The...

    Persil VS Skip-Similarities and differencies

    The Skip tablets with the net are the same format that we had here, only ours were Persil. The packaging on those looks more like the doomed Persil Power.

    Best smelling washing powder

    Wisk Wasn't Wisk the first liquid detergent available in the UK? It wasn't much good either from what I know.

    Best smelling washing powder

    I do agree with Skip Active clean. It smells amazing.

    Best smelling washing powder

    Shockingly, I actually really like the scents of some of the cheap detergents. Easy & Sainsburys own both smell great, although the former is piss poor at washing

    Persil VS Skip-Similarities and differencies

    clean better because they contain more enzymes That's not true. Powders clean better because they contain oxygen based bleaching agents, whereas liquids don't. I very very rarely use liquid. When I do, I use Ecover Non Bio. High surfactant count but no OBA's - great for jeans or anything...

    Persil VS Skip-Similarities and differencies

    I'm using Skip Active Clean at the moment. In many markets, Skip is Unilever's top detergent. The powder is nothing like our Persil though. It smells more like Persil did in the UK 20 years ago - I love it!

    Most hand soaps and body washes banned by the FDA

    carbolic/phenol was one of the most frequently used Carbolic soap really takes me back. My Great Grandma used to use it to clean absolutely everything, and until just a few years ago it was used to clean UK school desks with. The smell is something else indeed. The only problem is that...

    The Creda/Electra Mission.

    Thanks for sharing these, Has. Creda were always an unusual brand where I lived. Lots of Creda dryers and spinners but only the odd Supaspeed dotted around. I never knew anyone with an older washer, so these are great to see

    Flooded Bosch

    Spacedog is a Tori Amos reference I thought so. UTP was the first Tori album I got. Have you downloaded "Flicker" yet?

    Spacedogb, completely off topic my apologies, but your user name intrigued me. "Way to go, Mr. Microphone"?

    Lenor = Downy

    KwikSave I remember KwikSave very well - infact our local KwikSave had wooden shelves! We also had a KwikSave Food Giant which was a bit like Costco selling food in bulk. We also had a Fine Fayre but that's probably before your time, Tom

    Video of Restored UK Hotpoint 18580

    Got to love the 18 series. As I've mentioned (just a few times, not repeating myself...COUGH AHEM!) my Grandma had a 18371 and matching dryer for many years whilst I was growing up. I used to love watching that machine. In many ways, I would say the 18 series were better than the new gen's...

    Lenor = Downy

    Even down to the packaging and scents of the detergents, Ariel well and truly went for the scentific approach as opposed to the more happy families approach. Like the guy says in the Persil power doc, it's a brand that's always stood for care as well as cleaning.

    Lenor = Downy

    RE: detergent scents, I recently found French Skip in one of the various pound/discount stores and bought a few boxes. Skip is Unilever's leading brand in France. Despite the blue box, this is biological and it smells NOTHING like our Persil Bio. It's got this lovely retro soapy scent too it...

    Do you trust Beko?

    Hoover.. You also have to bear in mind their are licensing issues. The name "Hoover" is now owned in Europe by Candy, so the brand would need to be bought back which Candy will likely not be willing to do as it's a well known, high profit brand. The Hoover company that we all remember and love...
