    The Norge

So now I need to remove the cracked agitator. Nothing made it budge, so since it was junk, I took the Dremel to it.

If you read the earlier thread, the replacement has lint crud stuck inside:

    The Norge

Hi All! Now that my Christmas concert is over, I thought I would tackle the agitator on the Norge. The original one is broken at the top and is frozen to the shaft. Bobby in Boston

OK experts: When I try to copy the craigslist thingy, my right clicker only says "copy shortcut" and it never works. What do I do? Bobby in Boston

Chad: I have one just like yours. I am a huge coffee snob, and I think it makes a fab cup of coffee. Maybe the lights do something to the brew! Bobby in Boston

Restoring my Maytag 124 Automatic Washer

Brian; You are welcome any time I'm back home. You can check out the 142, the 606, and the 608 pair. I should be back sometime in December. I'll grab the manual to copy for you. The mixing valve in the Kenmore looks similar in construction, but not quite identical. Bobby in Boston

Restoring my Maytag 124 Automatic Washer

Brian: I have a service manual for the 142 but I won't be able to get it for a few weeks as it's in NY! The tub and agitator on yours looks great- little use. Mine has the older lined glass with the black buttons and dial. Yours has the newer styling, like the A700. Sweet little machine! Bobby...

Restoring my Maytag 124 Automatic Washer

There you go Brian. Ask and you shall receive. Any comments on why Maytag thermostatic mixing valves crap out fairly often? The warm setting of 100 degrees usually fails, leaving only cold water to come out. Any remedy for this? Bobby in Boston

    Hard water stains

Be careful of CLR and Limeaway on Maytag tubs. It takes the glaze off. I would recommend starting with plain old baking soda in a paste, then try rubbing lemon on the stain. Bobby in Boston

Changing a Maytag tub bearing and seal: A how to...

Drew: Thanks for a fabulous pictorial. Could you comment on the aluminum tub nut? Every one I have come across has been frozen solid onto the mounting stem. Every time I tried to use the spanner wrench the entire mounting stem assembly would start to turn, stripping the threads because of the...

    Norge Burpalator Agitator Question

I like the vinegar trick. I have used it in many washers and dishwashers with great results. I can try a gallon of white vinegar and a large box of baking soda. It couldn't hurt to descale the machine, anyway. Thank you Mickey, Malcolm, and Launderess! Here is said agitator: Bobby in Boston
