    Indesit brochure

TD5 Wow, I had not seen one before. I didn't know anyone who owned an Indesit dryer when I was growing up, in fact I don't recall seeing any on sale either. Paul, do you know if it was a variant of the TD5 that Servis sold as the 2080?

    Indesit brochure

Paul The Indesit L6 you posted was a pre 1979 model I think, the previous incarnation from 1975 had red accents on the control panel. Ian, is this the machine you were thinking of? (picture posted by another member in a previous thread ) [this post was last edited: 3/20/2014-15:51]

    Dispel detergent

Brilliantly put Stan. As I have said in the past, if we are using animals for meat then as little of them as possible should go to waste. After all, the Scot's national dish uses bits of the animal that would get thrown away ( although Haggis is not a Scot's invention )and it is super...

    Indesit brochure

Indesit's of old were solidly built although prone to rust and sticky door boots. A separate spinner was a necessity if you owned a slow spin model. It appears the L8's spin was beefed up in 1979 from 380rpm to 400rpm, remaining a spin drain machine. ( Rule of thumb with Indesit, if the filter...

Spotted! Tide Simply Clean and Fresh!

Rob, I should think Ariel Simply could be a possibility here. I doubt die hard Ariel fans would swap to Daz even if it's cheaper but would buy a "new" version of Ariel. Also I could see Ariel Simply boosting sales of Ariel stain remover in the long run. The only sticking point I could see is...

Spotted! Tide Simply Clean and Fresh!

It would be interesting to compare the ratio of cleaning ingredients in Tide "Simply" and the other Tide liquids. The same with Ordinary Ariel and Ariel Simply to see if the cleaning ingredients have been reduced in the Simply versions. In the UK the label on the detergent gives the approximate...

    Carlton washing machines from Currys

Thanks for posting Alan, Very interesting. I've seen the W/D before under another name ( I feel it begins with "S") but for the life of me I can't remember. The back of the drum in the middle machine looks quite Zanussi. Would be great to find out who produced them.

    Dispel detergent

The sad fact is...... trying to be an ethical shopper is exceptionally difficult. Multinationals such as P&G and Unilever make so many of the products we buy it's nigh impossible to avoid buying something they produce. My objection to P&G has been their use of the LD 50/50 test, I try to by as...

    Servis Continental

Well I never! I had no idea such a machine existed! When I first saw it I thought Zanussi.....however could feasibly be Balay. Regardless, thank you for posting pictures

    Dispel detergent

To be honest Animal fat in products doesn't bother me that much. It's been used for centuries in soaps, cleaning products, cosmetic products etc. I would rather, if an animal is to be killed for food that the by products be used as well rather than throwing them away. However, I'm not a...

Are we there yet? Heat pump dryers

Malcolm, Condenser dryers always take longer to dry than vented. 151.2 minutes to dry 9kg of laundry isn't too bad for a condenser dryer. My last dryer, a condenser unit, took 2 hours to dry 5kg of laundry. I now have a vented dryer, thankfully, an can do 6kg in less than an hour.

    Dispel detergent

I stopped my subscription to Which? magazine a while ago, I just felt the tests were dumbed down and they seemed to favour particular brands. Have not used Sainsbury's powder for a long long time. We still do not have the compact detergent in our stores yet although the big box Sainsbury's...

    Dispel detergent

I saw this In Asda a few months ago. I wouldn't recommend it after reading the ingredients list. Less than 5% for all surfactants and oxygen bleach. It may be cheap but I doubt it would perform well.

Ariel "Excel" Gel Causes Holes In Laundry?

Now I feel as dumb as a box of rocks!!! I hold my hands up and admit I didn't even read the washing instructions for the bamboo clothing. Yikes I've become a laundry novice! Also, I agree the dosing device for Ariel gel could have contributed to putting holes in clothing. Apologies everyone...

Ariel "Excel" Gel Causes Holes In Laundry?

Ariel Actilift in all variants contains ( or contained )cellulase, an enzyme that supposedly dissolves stray cotton fibres and reduces piling. I've tried Method detergent containing this enzyme and found it causes excessive wear and tear on cottons/cotton blends. Ariel excel gel had a...
