The end of Wonder Bread and Twinkies??

am I the only one Who thinks "Hoho's, Dingdongs, and Snowballs" sounds like a porno title? As for the products, good riddance. Times change. Keep up or you will be gone.

What is it about dishwashers and oatmeal?

UltraWash to the rescue I throw everything in mine, never rinsed, Normal or Pots & Pans cycle. Never have problems with anything, and I eat oatmeal regularly. Mine is running now, and of course I can hear it from any room in the house, but I take comfort and have convinced myself that if you...

    The Best Microwave to Buy

I like Panasonic Mine is an "inverter" model, and it works perfectly. I use the program settings for different types of foods, and it's spot on. The defrost function works great also. Try looking at the Panasonic direct site. They might have more models than a store would have, and if you...

    Lint Removal On Modern Washers

I'm confused A lot of these posts seem to focus on filtration of the discharge. Are there any machines that filter lint so that it doesn't get on your clothes?

thanks for reminder I was planning on washing my canvas bags this weekend. I'm a convert to the reusable bags now. They're so handy.

A stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright House...

Usonians I was a docent at the Pope-Leighey House, near Mt. Vernon in Fairfax County, Virginia. It's a tiny early Usonian. I always call these larger ones "Cadillac Usonians" :-)

    New Amana gas dryer

Nice I love my 27" Whirlpool, but when it becomes time to replace, I want to convert to gas.

Haier Full Size Agitator Top Loader Washer Gaining Popularity

Years ago when I first heard of Haier the first thing that came to mind was "german". I disagree with a previous comment about drop-down doors. I love my 27" Whirlpool, and if I can help it, I will never own anything but a dryer like it.

    Keyboard Cleaning

dishwasher! I am bad and eat at my desk too often, so keyboard can get gross. Yep, I'm one of the folks who just puts it in the dishwasher (no detergent), then lets it dry a good long time with the help of a fan. Its never damaged a keyboard, and even if it did, I already have spares that have...

    Lint Removal On Modern Washers

Keep this thread going I had a Norgetag and I did not experience nearly the amount of lint that I seem to have with my Admirpool. I usually ran the Norgetag on the gentle agitation speed, so that probably had a lot to do with it. I hang-dry a lot of clothes, and when I am in the market for a...

Lots to see at the car show

Love DeSoto! 57 and 58 are my favorites. I have always thought that the 57/58 DeSotos and Chryslers were the most tasteful implementation of tailfins. Virgil Exner was awesome.

    The GUINESS Beer Milkshake

107 year old lady Read this article from last year about Betsy Stanford, who turned 107 last November and claimed one of her secrets to longevity was a smoothie she made of Guiness Stout, Ensure, nutmeg, and vanilla. "I drink stout. It's good for you, baby!" Her advice for a happy marriage...

Drying Laundry on a Folding Dryer

I have 3 Of the wood type. I usually hang in my spare bedroom. With the ceiling fan on they dry pretty quick. In the winter time, I'll sometimes move in different places. Like the slight fragrance, and they do help humidify the home somewhat. I never got around to setting up a line outside...

    Bauhaus Stereo by Braun

love Dieter Rams One of my favorite thrift store finds was when I was in college (late 80's) I snagged a German-made barely-used Aromaster coffee maker for $8.

    New Car

If I lived nearby I'd love to see and make you an offer on that Focus. I'm with the majority. Keep it. It has tons of life left to it. And congrats on the mileage. I have read anecdotally that they're good on gas. Any car driven in a civilized way its easy to beat the EPA ratings.

How many here still like/drink Kool-Aid?

Yes! and a sick reference... I drink Flavor-Aid, Aldi's version, and sometimes Kool-Aid if its on sale. I specifically like that I can make it less sweet, and I usually use Splenda. The Aldi stuff is 10 packets for .89. I use it all, except for whatever reason I'm not fond of lemonade...

    Dehumidifiers.

dehumidifier story and recommendation Back in 2008 I bought a Soleus model from an online store. I had read that it was quieter than most and did not generate as much heat. Previous to that I bought an LG unit from Best Buy, but it was just too noisy and rattley and put out too much heat so I...

    Vintage Fan Thread

My dual fan I got this last year from the Craigslist free section. It works and has a thermostat. I have been meaning to clean it up, oil it, and replace the cord, but I just haven't gotten around to it so for now it is "unrestored". The label says "Fresh'nd-aire by CORY"
