Lands sake! That is a beautiful house, Hans! I love the kitchen, what a great space for a great cook. I can't wait to see it after you and Donald make it a home. Hearty congratulations.

    1 day off, 2 washers, 4 dryers & a dishwasher - OY!

Oh. So. Close. You're probably right about the date, on the Whirlpool. I grew up with the next model up from it. Ours had variable speed (and a satisfying "whump" when you changed speeds) and almost the same control panel. I believe you'll find two fluorescent tubes behind the glass. Wow...

    Pressure Canners

*shaking head, grinning* Tom, did you take an extra "witty pill" today? I hadn't even recovered from the "bed on bricks" comment, and now the above...

    Celebrating the Chiffon Cake

Jeff! "OCD hotline"--Lord Gawd, I've been chuckling over that for half an hour now. Sadly, I'm probably a candidate for that hotline, having been reared by the original Mrs. Clean. Baking at our house involved washing each bowl and utensil as it was used--any delay was the beginning of the...

I can be sure, It's a vintage roaster

Nice score! I'm ashamed to admit how many of these I have, but can honestly say they see use. I've never seen the buffet inserts-how cool is that? The only thing missing is Katie doing Betty Furness!

    Appliance company Home Economists???

Wood and kerosene Grandma cooked on wood and kerosene right up to the time she came to live with us in her late 70's. Mama learned at her side, and so did I. I never minded the wood stove, but that damn kerosene iron--the FUMES! I still think some things cooked better that way--gravy comes...

    For you Star Wars/IH fans...

I'd go really early 50's I have my parent's '53 in the basement, it has the full freezer and shelves and butter keeper in the door. IH's were very durable, seems the weak link was the door handle. Mine is half missing.

The Case of Sympathetic Spin ...OR..A 1956....

wow Okay, this is cool on so many levels! Sort of a combination learning tool and video extravaganza. Thanks for the tips and eye candy. I cannot wait for Robert's response!

Speaking of hidden bake units... COOLERATOR!

drifting a bit to Central Hardware... CH was a victim of the big box home centers. A shame, really, because they were sort of your local Ace hardware on steroids--everything from scoop to nuts was their jingle, if I recall correctly. Service was excellent. Their big store on Page Boulevard...

    Stupid pressure cooker ideas

Um, No. NOT a good idea. What are you making? I've had to boil SCmilk for 30 minutes before. Is this a frosting recipe?

*fingers crossed* Best of luck, boys! I'd love to come and help you move just to oooh and aaaah over all that vintage goodness! (I'd probably not get a BIT of work done...)

A little change made to Fels Naptha

Lye soap My local Ace Hardware stores carry it, but it's made here in Missouri so I'm unsure if it's available everywhere.
