Does anyone remember a disembodied hand with needles at the end of the fingers? It crawled up the back of a car seat and stung the driver in the back of the neck/shoulder and caused him to crash. Was it called The Hand?

Fabric Softener that Speeds Up Drying Time?

Sorry John That was a typo. The fabric softener in question was supposed to decrease drying time and I was curious as to whether one could attribute any truth to the matter.

Does Anyone Remember... “The Day of the Triffids”? It may have very well been one of those Saturday Afternoon made for Television “Creature Features”. I’ll always remember the ice cream truck with the loudspeaker on top to draw the Triffids closer to the ocean so they could be sprayed down with...

Fabric Softener that Speeds Up Drying Time?

Picture finally showed up. Don’t know what what the problem was. Must have been an upload or download problem from the cloud. I knew I took it.

Fabric Softener that Speeds Up Drying Time?

I wonder how that works, exactly? I read the ingredients and proceeded to forget about them quickly. I did notice that the softener that claims to increase drying time does less loads per bottle than the regular softener and it also seemed thinner when I shook it. Maybe it's got alcohol in it...

    odd tag trouble

I didn't call you a name, John. Instead of addressing me why don't you apologize to Ralph. It would be more productive. And for the record, my name is Brian, not "Brain".

    odd tag trouble

Rude! http://www.quick220.com/page/cp-voltage.html It never ceases to amaze me how nasty and superior some people can be towards others, even though they might not perceive it that way. Spelling errors and incorrect grammar seem to abound from some members. This makes some look like they don't...

1972 Maytag HA806 set from Reno

    7. Took a page out of Mark's (kenmore71) book and added a light in the console to let me know when the element is on. He used a blue light behind the gas logo, so I decided to use orange neon behind the Maytag logo. I soldered two neons together in parallel, heat shrinked the legs on the lamps...

1972 Maytag HA806 set from Reno

Addendum I wasn't completely satisfied with my restoration from 2015 so I decided to make some changes. This started last summer and I just made my final tweak today. I'll try to keep this as concise as possible as to not bore anyone. 1. Had outer tub powder coated. They didn't have extra dark...

Furnace question for Easterners/Cold Country members~

Just to look at it I would guess that it was originally designed to be forced or convection in a pinch. I could be wrong about that though. If air conditioning and a top of the line humidification system could be added without messing up the integrity of the system as a whole, one would have a...

    Hobart Dishwasher Scans

Very cool scans, Eddie. I often wish I would have had the chance to run a commercial machine when I was younger. I’m at the Hy-Vee cafeteria now and for the last few years I’ve been watching the cleanliness of their flatware go down hill. I don’t know what they’re doing wrong but whatever it is...

    My Family don't Understand

John, There’s nothing wrong with you for having more than one d/w. I was just thinking the other day that it would be nice to have two d/w. One for tableware and another for cookware and other miscellaneous items. Surely your family can see the advantage in that, especially since those items...

    Maytag DG606 woes

I hate to rain on your parade but it’s really hard to find those front seals for the gas HOH. The bottom part of the cabinet can be repainted but the porcelain top is so slick it’s hard to get paint to stick.

I still need to find one part but I’m getting close to have a matching pair!

Hi Phil, I noticed in one of your pictures in your first post that you are holding a paint gun with a container that seems to fill from the top and most likely needs no or little lacquer thinner to get the job done. Would this be considered a low velocity/low volume gun? I want to be able to...

Turned on the heat for the 2017-2018 season

Like Harley said, it’s been in pretty cold here in the middle for a few weeks now. Heat pump’s been on quite a bit but the furnace has only been on a few times (atmospheric pump). I think it’s been a bit cooler than that up in the northern plains. How about it guys?

    Exploding Whirlpool Washer in MN.

Our vintage machines don’t explode. They usually shut off if improperly loaded. Our old front loaders were often bolted to the ground or were so heavy it didn’t matter. Facts are facts. I don’t know what German machines do. If they don’t explode, good for you. I’m done with this stupid argument...
