odd tag trouble

you know besides a blood offering every time I work of one my tag dryers they seem to want to confuse me. sent a tag dryer to my partners house for daily use it ran fine for being close to 25 year old so last year she got a tune up with belt and rollers and a good cleaning all was fine this week the plastic blower wheel fell apart so that's an easy fix did that ran a test load all was fine. the second load no heat took the front off nothing unplugged or burnt all looks fine cant find my ohm meter to test the coil unit but I guess for what ever reason that could have died. just seems odd. is there something I'm missing or a trick I don't know.. the machine sat unplugged for a week while the part was shipped, the only thing I will say is that I also have an atlantis dryer and if I unplug that machine to use the plug for another machine that dryer wont start at all for a good day or so its really odd. any way any advice

No Heat

Either it isn't getting 220v to the machine or you have a broken wire to the element or the element has failed.Feel for a break.

thanks mark will check all again when I first checked nothing was loose or felt broken but will try again, did order a heat element just in case.. thanks

The actual 220 receptacle could be bad.  This happened with the receptacle for our stove.  It had been in use since 1960.

Non Heating MT Electric Dryer

Most likley a bad element 25% chance, but there are 7 or 8 other common reasons why an electric dryer may run without heating including losing one side of the 240 volt power source [ note : there is no such thing as 220 volts in the US, only 208 and 240 volts are used in the US ] Using the term 220 volts makes one look like they don't know what they are talking about.

It never ceases to amaze me how nasty and superior some people can be towards others, even though they might not perceive it that way. Spelling errors and incorrect grammar seem to abound from some members. This makes some look like they don't know what they are talking about. Most of us of us let these things slide because it's not worth the trouble to point out and it just creates ill will. Maybe this is where the term "Imperial Queens" came about?

220V is still with us-depends on the primary tap settings on the transformer feeding your house or building.It is within the normal voltage tolerences allowed to power companies.And your dist transformer may be the last in the utility's circuit-so the voltage will be lower.The power co regulators are set to +- 10 percent tolerance.

You know what?  I've been calling it 110 and 220 since I was a kid.  It's what my dad called it.  There were plenty of appliances with specs of 110-115 volts when I was learning things as a kid, and presumably there still are.  I have Telechron clocks that are rated for 115 volts.   I have a GE clock radio that's rated for 105-120 volts. 

 

It did occur to me that I could have used the 240 designation in my post, but since benidxmark used the same 220 figure that I tend to, I did the same.   People with only rudimentary electrical skills know what you mean whether you call it 220 or 240.  They'll both give you a serious jolt.

 

I find mistakes and typos here each and every day.  I "difidently" do.  But I have better things to do than point them out to those who made them. ;-)

ok ok everyone calm down.. now back to the dryer, my feeling (well till I can get back to work on it come this fri) is that the heat element died the first load was fine then it was nothing but cold air.. oh well ill get there

First thing I would check is the household fuses, or circuit breakers, to make sure the proper voltage is being supplied.
