    Video of repairing sun-damaged plastic.

This is a pretty interesting video I watched a lot when it first came out, and you may find interesting.   Person from Hawaii with a Maytag Dependable Care where the plastic was exposed to the sun a lot and had started to deteriorate. The repair work may not make all of it look 100% perfect...

New Speed Queen AWN542 owner here

Well I think after that, they moved to the "self-cleaning" filters which cleaned themselves every time the washer drained.    Then later they went away from those, and the most common posts I have seen as the reason for that was either it was cheaper to make that way, or the dryer's lint...

Chris, (not to hijack the thread or anything) here's a video of mine of another machine, you can easily see the turnover involved.     (starts at 21:46, the link i posted for some reason keeps making it a bit earlier than that)

Yeah, I haven't listened to much of what CR has said for quite a while now.

Tub Indexing That is correct. After you use it for a while, the indexing will stop.

    Website missing button

Not to speak for him or anything, but I think Robert thad said that when Thread Resurrection was started here, he had to remove that feature because of the read/unread databases. Something along those lines.....

UK survey: single men don't change bed sheets

An easy solution to those bed sheets......... got a match?      Okay, but in all seriousness, I am single and there is nothing more comfortable than a bed with fresh cleaned sheets! I usually wash mine once a week, sometimes once every two weeks if I am lazy, and I hope that isn't pushing it...

1990 Whirlpool DD occasional pump noise.

Well, I took the pump off and could not find anything, at least what you can visibly see through the ports, and nothing in the outer tub either. I did manually turn the pump shaft and it moves very easily, so all I could think of trying is maybe just giving the pump a good rinsing inside...

1990 Whirlpool DD occasional pump noise.

Hi guys, It's hard to catch this on video, so I will try to explain this best I can.     As you hear on many machines during the agitation portion, you can hear the "air" sound while the pump runs, and at some point the drain hose makes the light "gurgle" sound after a certain amount of each...

    Sears Appliance Sales Lose Heat

The first one makes more sense to me.   The second one though can go either way. either faulty manufacturing, or people not leaving the doors propped open. Who knows...

1/2 Horsepower and 3/4 Horsepower motors for washers

A little off-topic, but this reminds me of when I was looking for a WP direct drive for my bro. The higher models said something like a 3.4 to a 4.0 cubic ft tub. I sure didn't fall for that, but I'm sure others did.

My "new" WP Daily driver DW

My bro has a machine like this just with a different control panel. It gets the job done every time, and the motor on that thing looks like a good STRONG one too. Nick's one is clearly no exception.

    Knock, knock!

What's the point? I never realized there was something wrong with simply pulling the door open.   Just another marketing gimmick.

Looking for a good used top load machine, advice?

Belt Eating From other posts I have seen, I think the Amana-labeled washers didn't have the motor directly attached to the outer tub (or the support, I am unsure of the exact piece) instead it was attached to the bottom, so when the tub would move from agitation or spin, the motor stayed...

Out with the sort of old, in with the somewhat less old

A view from inside my 87 Whirly

    Hobart Dishwasher

I've used a machine very similar to that one before. Nick (whirlykenmore78) could probably give you more info on that as he is a huge fan of Hobart equipment.
