When I first got my 1974 A407 I thought it was 2 speed with the regular, gentile, permanent press buttons. I always use regular setting but I think if I press gentile while its washing it just stops.

Nissan CVT transmissions are widely known to be junk and something to stay clear away from when buying a vehicle. I would avoid them in any brand.

My main concern is are you able to snug it down tight in the agitator or is the plastic stripped out? If its stripped out you'll need to go to a larger stainless steel screw. Originals look like a #10 screw as a guess so maybe a #12 or #14 may have to be used in its place.
