Fisher and Paykel Topload dryer (Post images below)

I think the main reasons they didn’t take off is they’re cumbersome to load and unload through that small hatch in the drum. They’ve improved the design, but it’s still a bit fiddly compared to a porthole door. The older models even had issues with things getting lost down the outside of the...

Same owner. Afaik the Candy ones were made by the French plant. Production there only ended in 2021 after the Haier take over of Candy. Seems they are moving Rosières to higher rung of the ladder to distinguish it from Candy. I think they may be using the same strategy for Hoover in some markets...

Voilà - cuisinière combiné avec lave-vaisselle: By Rosières (Also available with induction, or gas burners or a mix of both.) And, it even has a rotisserie! France still has one or two quite interesting appliance designs. The combination stove dishwasher is something I’ve never seen anywhere...

Just as long as it didn’t have « La programme Mère Dénis avec action pulvérisation totale » They also did a very practical, fully upholstered top loader aimed at bijoux apartments or those who wanted something dedicated to just lingerie cycles, styled by designer Chantal Thomass. I’m not sure...

Just to add, had a Google around yesterday and it seems Vedette was probably the last company to make those machines. They’re no longer manufactured and actually seems they may also have been the last french washing machine producer. The Brandt, Vedette and De Dietrich appliances brands are just...

Fisher and Paykel Topload dryer (Post images below)

Just a similar design... There's a French Vedette very compact top loader condenser dryer - video is of one these machines being dismantled. These are relatively cheap machines.     These were pretty unique to the French market, I haven't seen them sold much anywhere else. France has...

PLEASE READ THIS, My Appologies Everyone!

You did a great job getting it back up again so quickly - far faster than some commercial websites that have had major hacks.   These things seem to be random / opportunistic.   I would strongly advise we all change PW over the next few days! [this post was last edited: 2/17/2022-20:36]

    Removing blood stains?

Sorry to hear you were hurt. Take it easy and get well soon!   As for cleaning it: Enzymes, enzymes and more enzymes - a hand-hot temperature and plenty of soaking time. Don't wash blood stains at high temperatures as it can 'cook' and become even more difficult to remove, while very cold...

    Bounce dryer sheets

There's actually a version of the unstoppables in the Ariel scent, so I suppose there's no reason why they couldn't do a Bounce version.   https://shop.supervalu.ie/shopping/household-cleaning-boosters-lenor-unstoppables-ariel-in-wash-scent-booster-264-g-/p-1760552003   Ariel has a quite...

    Bounce dryer sheets

Something like this ? To be quite honest, I find the need to use dryer sheets went away with enamelled drums. I remember our old Hoover “Tumble Dryer Deluxe” which probably dated from about 1978. Those machines were based loosely on a European standard sized cabinet version of Maytag ‘Halo of...

    Bounce dryer sheets

I've a Miele heat pump that's been in use since mid 2017 and it gets LOTS of use and is still not showing any sign at all of fluff build up.   I did replace the foam filter though as soon as I saw any deterioration at all. Quite careful to ensure that the condenser system stays protected.  ...

    Bounce dryer sheets

Bounce was definitely a feature of suburban Dublin in the late 80s and 90s. In the area I grew up in, washing a machines and dryers often lived in the garage or in an external laundry room. I have a very clear memory of Bounce (on a roll, not individual sheets) wafting out of dryer vents...

    Questions about bath towels....

Mine get washed at a high temperature 75°C, Twin Dos detergent and a splash of Comfort Pure (Unilever) and they seem to come out absolutely perfect dried in a heat pump dryer. Temperature of wash seems to be a big deal for towels and using a little blast of peroxide bleach. Comfort Pure is a...

    Ariel, with Purezyme

To be fair to the developers of this stuff, enzyme technology is in a golden age at the moment because they can be very accurately engineered in ways that just weren’t possible even in the early 2000s never mind the era when Wisk was being advertised. The use of enzymes allows lower washing...

    GE sale to Haier complete

One thing I find these days is that high end often means a run of the mill, standard washing machine, built on a standard design with the same components as mass market and cheap stuff, but they whack a display on it that equivalent of a smart phone, add 100% to the price tag, style it up a bit...

Cats Starting House fires in S. Korea

There's a big thing here about being able to isolate the appliance without having to reach over it or across it too, so the switch is usually adjacent to it. They're flush switches and in most kitchens tend to be fairly fancy flat plates and blended into the decor. Old "cooker control units"...

Really old house in Sweden Karlskrona (LOTS of pics)

That’s very industrial looking machine, more like what I would have expected to see in a light commercial context than a house. The so called “utility house” and the “garden city” movement hit here in the 1920s which is when we started to see homes with practical, easy to maintain layouts, but...

Really old house in Sweden Karlskrona (LOTS of pics)

Interesting mid century house. I definitely wouldn’t call it old. It should be really nice once it’s refurbished. The hatch in the bathroom is a bit mysterious. I know a lot of 1950s houses here used to have the hot press / airing cupboard in a hallway, which had a second door that opened into...
