    SOMAT 'SMART' automatic detergent dispenser

Interesting, however as was said above, it's bound to happen that one compartment will empty before the others. A dirtier load may use a bit more detergent, but will probably use the same amount of rinse aid! Maybe they're betting on the law of averages?   About a year-and-a-half ago I saw a...

Thanks for the link, Ken! Apparently my laptop is correct!   Chuck

    Range hoods

We just bought a Broan BCDF136SS for the downstairs kitchen. It's whisper-quiet on the first speed, but it really needs the 2nd and 3rd speed to remove steam from a boiling pot. It's a bit loud on 3, but it's also moving 300CFM (the box says the max rating is 375).   Rich likes it mainly...

    Ice maker problem

I was thinking, "Dang, he must have one big-ass tree!" LOL!   All good, and yes, the furniture coasters are also extremely useful when moving large pieces! Unfortunately I made the mistake once of not making sure there was nothing at all on the floor and scratched it a bit.   Chuck

    Ice maker problem

Eddie, These are the skids we were referring to. Actually, I stand corrected on the name... air sleds!   Chuck

    Ice maker problem

neat sliding pads When I was with Miele the installers had those air skids- they came in a kit with their own little "air pig" blower and extra-long extension cord. I was able to help move a 650# range. When I say "help," I mean those of us who had never used them before got to push it around a...

    1938 Frigidaire help needed

As you may remember, we rescued this unit from an estate sale months ago, and it seemd to cool well, but down to 10F at the bottom of the fridge unit. I tried recently to turn the temp to the warmest and try again, but it still cools to about 10F. Any ideas? I'm hoping there's a fix inside the...

    Hoover Automix Food Mixers

The Nutone built-in kitchen center has a mixer with a central spindle and off-set beater similar to these. Works nicely! Sorry I can't add a pic but we're still working on the kitchen and don't have everything in place yet.   Chuck

    Tried going shopping

When I cook Mexican Just made Carne Asada Sunday. Marinated the flank steak overnight in lime juice, chili powder, granulated garlic, cumin and oregano. Yum!   Went to Market Basket yesterday and didn't notice any shortages, including the paper aisle. Plenty of people going the wrong way in...

    Ice maker problem

When we installed our KA French Door counter-depth unit in the upstairs kitchen, I refused to run the water line to it even though we had one for the built-in Sub that this unit replaced when we did a mini-remod. Icemakers in general suck and AFAIC it's easier to buy 5# bags for $1 at Dollar...

    Bevador cooler.

Read that they only made these But if it was on the internet you know it's true! LOL!   I don't know when they started using the 2-digit designation for sections of a city but that may give you a likely "not before" date.   Interesting- I was Buffalo 25 (14225, Cheektowaga) which was an...

    Bevador cooler.

I don't know anything about these, but it would seem to me to be a pre-1963 model as evidenced by the "Buffalo 13" origination rather than 14213. Buffalo 13 would have been pre-zip code (1963), wouldn't it?   Chuck

    How does your garden grow

Matt, Everything in my garden has been pulled for the last month. I got a colander full of tomatoes and one summer squash at the end. There was a small watermelon on the last plant I left in there, but that's toast now.   My sage and a few other herbs are still useable. In fact, I've been...

Chili powder We have Ocean State Job Lot here and they carry all the "Spice Supreme" spices for $1. The chili powder is 4.37oz. Seems to me I've seen it at Dollar tree in a similar size or maybe slightly smaller. I'm guessing the shipping cost would make it unreasonable?   Chuck

    Nutone built-in food center

Perfect!!! Thanks!!! I didn't remember but Rich had me fill the hole so nothing would leak in. I didn't remember the process, so..... Maybe I should tape instructions to it for next time. Oh, wait, no way in hell will there be another next time!!!! LOL!   Chuck

    Tried going shopping

With Covid caes on the rise they're expecting shut-downs again. Hopefully everyone just gets one extra of what they need. Of course, those idiots who filled a shopping cart with TP back in March have enough 'till 2022!!!   Our freezer's at its normal level... 6' tall and probably 75% capacity...

    Nutone built-in food center

Thanks for that information! I don't remember having to do that in reverse when I installed it, but who knows! Since we were under the gun we ended up cutting it out of the countertop for the time being. I'll take a look when I'm ready to reinstall it this weekend!   Chuck

Students design a washer for students.

you have already washed your body in... I'm not up on this as far as water, but wouldn't the carbon filter in the unit be sufficient to "clean" the water before it goes to the clothes?   Chuck

    Nutone built-in food center

Hey all,   So, this is a little embarrassing! We're taking out the cabinets on the wall of the kitchen where the Nutone is built-in, and I can't remember how these stabilizing brackets are released. Anyone remember?   Thanks in advance, Chuck
