    Miele coffee maker

"Fabrik in Deutschland" Greg, The vacuums are a totally different animal re: Miele. In general, the home appliances are made in DE, though there are some exceptions. For example, I ran across a built-in coffee center with a "made in (not Germany)" at one service call! Also, not all components...

No More Sales On Paper Towels and Toilet Paper?

Paper towels on sale We were down to our last roll so I had them on my list last week. Price Chopper had Bounty $3 off the large pack. I noted in their recent ads there have been sales on Scott TP/PT and others. Chuck

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

Mike- I'm gonna have to try a few of your additions next time I make it. I usually go with bread crumb, parm-reg, romano, garlic parsley and egg. I made it once with a strip of prosciutto in each roll, but the flavor was lost. I'll do it next time but will chop the prosciutto so it travels...

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

We had another couple over for a safe dinner and pool time. Tried doing Mexican-spiced chicken wings and camaron (shrimp) with rice and beans. The wing marinade needs a bit more tweaking, but all agreed it was successful overall. The lime was especially appreciated for the rice! Not shown...

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

its my OCD in action It's not just you! Since I bought my digital kitchen scale, I do the same with the bagels, within a few grams. Yesterdays were 144g dough each! LOL! Chuck

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

complaints about their oven being 12 degrees off and other ROFL! Ain't it the truth!! I've gotta say, I tried a new bagel recipe and these are the easiest and, IMHO, best bagels yet (Rich said the same). The crust is there, the chew is right.... Starter the night before: 1/2c flour 1/4c...

    Beard Trimmer

We have a Philips MG3750. It charges quickly and holds a charge for a long time. It came with a number of attachments . Chuck

    Vitantonio 900 (home pasta machine)

We had an electric (don't remember the name) pasta maker that had maybe a dozen plastic dies and was noisy as h*ll. It went to the swap shop. We've given up on pasta machines other than our (1970's?) Pasta Queen pasta roller/cutter and a cavatelli maker we found thrifting (all manual). I do...

    U.S. coin shortage?

Hey Jon, My info is admittedly outdated, but last I knew you can not be charged a surcharge for using plastic per the merchant's contract with Visa/MC (don't know about Discover/Amex). They can offer a cash discount, like Sunoco and some other gas stations do, but can't charge a penalty for...

    "MAKE MINE SERVICE" 1957

mandated full service for the handicapped Actually, I just remembered that here in MA if there isn't an automatic fire suppression system at the pumps, it can not be self-serve; we have one such local dealer who has a sign posted to the effect of "Please remain in your vehicle. No...

    "MAKE MINE SERVICE" 1957

I'm just old enough to remember them, but self-serve, IIRC, had begun just about the time I started to drive. It was weird when I'd go to the Miele USA office in NJ because all stations there are "service." I won't say full-service because it's rare that you'll get anything other than a garumph...

    2 Prong Small Appliance Cord

"Made ya look" What was the saying when we were kids and made someone look at something? "Made ya look ya dirty crook" or something like that? I took a look and it doesn't appear that ours has such a selector, but who knows... were there other models with other features? It'll be interesting...

    2 Prong Small Appliance Cord

James, I would think the timer would have been for anything you wanted it to be, but probably morning coffee would make the most sense. Though, considering the number of perks that took the 2 prong design of the retractable cords, I wonder why they didn't put the timer on one of those? Chuck

    2 Prong Small Appliance Cord

You need a.... Westinghouse power center! 2 retractable cords and 2 outlets, one on the timer, and all 4 protected by little circuit trippers (breakers?)! Chuck

Change the control board! Change the control board!

Mike, I don't know that anyone would call Miele vacs "cheap junk" and wouldn't consider it a "keeper." They get incredible reviews and are considered one of the best machines for the money on the market (though I can't speak for the robot or stick styles). Even the upright, fairly new to the...

    U.S. coin shortage?

Kevin- I'd question the legality of them accepting cash as a payment but not giving change! And, they'll take the change and put it in the charity box, but not give it to you? Chuck

Rotary iron heats up but does not turn

Launderess, I didn't look at the pictures well enough to see that it was a table-top model. However, the caveat to measure-before-purchase is always to be followed. If, perhaps, it was easier to buy a roller cover that is too large and modify it with ones Singer..... I wonder if roller padding...

Rotary iron heats up but does not turn

As a suggestion, perhaps measure the length of yours and compare it to current models offered (Miele, etc.) to see if one might match up closely enough? Chuck

    Nutone Blender Hunt

Yes, it is Bob. IIRC we have one with the Nutone that's in storage that we're looking to install in the upstairs kitchen. Chuck
