How to get True Hot Wash

@ Martin would unplugging the sensor work on a 2012 Frigidaire FL and if so, where is the sensor to unplug it? I would love to do this as well seeing how my machine starts the fill with hot water and then halfway through dumps ice cold water in the rest of the way....

    Frigidaire/Kenmore 417 front load replacement

that's exactly the one I have had since Nov. of '12 and I have had no problems with it thus far. Mine is the BOL model, so no internal heater or drum light. I have washed 3-5 loads a week in it and, knock on wood, no problems yet. I too read the bad reviews and some of the problems like mold or...

    Strange Spinner

Here's a word for the seller: Seriously, I lived in that country for 11 years and experienced plenty of that sort of thing, especially directed at people from English-speaking countries. [this post was last edited: 9/17/2013-15:16]

Speed Queen for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Have to say this is simply awesome of Speed Queen to do such a thing. I realize KitchenAid did a breast cancer awareness edition mixer but I haven't seen any other major appliances offer a BCA edition anything. Hats off to Alliance/Speed Queen!

how is this supposed to clean your laundry

Question: I realize this has probably been asked before, but wouldn't it be possible to put a conventional agitator into one of these HE, low-effectivity washers? Just pondering...

    New miele washer and dryer

    Thermoschontrommel... "Gentle thermo-drum" perhaps?

how is this supposed to clean your laundry

Lightedcontrols: I believe that says it all. You should send GE a statement to that effect, not that they'd care, of course. They're too big to care.

have you ever seen something like this??

"Motore" The German plural for motor is Motoren. They probably just ran out of room for the final "n". This machine would have two motors. It would be nice to see a close-up of the controls. That would tell us if it's a spinner-dryer or a washer-spinner.

how is this supposed to clean your laundry

"What the hell is that supposed to do?" I believe it's supposed to fool U.S. consumers and the government into thinking GE has come up with a revolutionary and water-saving (!!!) way to "wash" clothes. Whether or not they actually get clean is completely immaterial. Washers are built to satisfy...

are you sure you are using the 100% of the capacity of your washer?

I fill my 2012 Frigidaire FL to the very top of the drum with dry laundry when I wash. When the clothes get wet, they come about 3/4 of the way up to the top of the drum. An average load of whites in my house is five pairs of baker's pants, five white t-shirts, five pairs of socks and two or...

New energy star washers - good or bad?

Candoo: If you are able, the best thing to replace a Miele with is, IMO, another Miele. Having owned one from about the same time as yours and comparing it with what I have now (not that the Affinity FL is a BAD machine), I'd have to say that you most likely wouldn't be happy with anything else...

New energy star washers - good or bad?

"in the states, Canada, Aus etc" I can't speak for Oz, but in the US, most newer washers, with a few exceptions like Speed Queen/Huebsch (top as well as front loading) use a PITIFULLY small amount of water to "wash" the clothes, no matter what cycle you select. My 2012 Frigidaire FL fills to...

Modern Russian washers: I am more than pleased: Say WOW!

Dank U wel, Louis! Or should I say "domo arigato"? ;-) It's amazing that you found a demo video of how to fold shirts like that. Since I'm washing my work clothes as I write this, I'll try it out straight away.

15kg LG washer launched in Germany

@ Chris74 Do you remember the model number of that LG machine? I remember it fascinated me but it just seemed like too much washer for a single person. I remember Quelle had it, which was where I bought my Miele...

15kg LG washer launched in Germany

10 year "guarantee" Nothing more than a marketing gimmick really. The average consumer sees the big "10 year guarantee" and thinks it applies to the whole machine, not thinking or knowing that the seals/bearings are much more likely to fail long before the motor does. P.T. Barnum summed up the...

15kg LG washer launched in Germany

IIRC.. LG had an enormous frontloader when I still lived in Germany back in the late '90s - 2000's. It had the control panel on the rear of the top panel like a US toploader and it also had the detergent dispenser on the top. The drum was huge as was the rest of the machine but most of it...

    1947 Jacobs Launderall

The only thing distressing about the Launderall on ebay is the asking price... I dare someone to hit the "make an offer" button and offer him what it's really worth and see what he comes back with.

I Think my duet washer has the black mildew problem

At the risk of being shot at... The owner's manual to my Frigidaire FL says it's okay to clean the detergent drawer in the dishwasher. In my mind, this would eliminate any and all mold/discoloration issues. FWIW
