Maytag 511 washer developed strange noise

Don't throw parts at it trying to find the problem unless reasonable sure you've identified the issue. Hard to believe the belt glazed over in 5 years unless something else is out of spec. Try the suggestion above and also varying the tension on the motor slide using your foot or something to...

    A712 maytag won't spin

First thing I would have done Is lean the machine back and try turning inner the tub by rotating the pulley (one direction to agitate the other to spin). This would eliminate a seized tub bearing or a piece of clothing tube jammed between the inner and outer tubs.

First time I've ever called a plumber

Total? $700 Probably a rip off but I do NOT care The same job in my area likely would have run you close to grand. Pulling toilets and battling to remove an old faucet ain't easy. I had a leaking toilet that was also weather dependent turns out the painted metal flange had rusted out. I...

Look at what's in the kitchen

they removed or cut down every green thing I have some new neighbors like that. They cut down mature trees left and right, replant nothing but grass and obsess over their lawns. One of them can't sleep at night if he missed a blade of grass with the mower or trimmer.

Grease Spots Coming from Maytag A606S

that I remove the agitator Agitator on that model just pulls straight up to remove no set screw, however if never removed before it could be a battle. As mentioned the grease is likely coming from the trans via a failed stem seal and there could be water intrusion in the trans as well. Not an...

    Fels Naptha Changes again.

My mom feeds the skunk (and other critters) that come around at night. Its sort of like paying protection money to the mafia, they may skunk up the neighbors houses but not ours.

    Refreshing My ‘69 Maytag A106

basically a solvent with mineral oil Agree. The reason for the tear down was to correct the sluggish agitation. Old Maytag trans oil is some of most thick tackiest stuff I've come across. Takes a a while time to clean out the crank case and gears even using raw gasoline.

    Noisy Damper Pads

I’m very careful not to use imitation parts I do the same with automotive parts. Not so long ago one could get high quality mostly USA made aftermarket parts. Now everything is cut rate and foreign made with a hefty price tag.
