    My “new” Cadillac

They weren’t very reliable though. Have to disagree. The 472ci Cadillac engine and 400TH transmission were a solid combo. My mom had a 1973 and 1986 Coupe De Ville (425ci 400TH combo). The '73 had the notorious GM nylon timing gear fail around 125,000 miles but other GM engines had the same...

    Maytag A512 02 Spins but Won't Agitate

showing the old tub seal (still on the tub) The older style tub bearing oil wick can be saturated with turbine oil by pulling back the rubber and re-used if in good condition. I'd re-use or save it, just matter of time before OEM tub bearings are NLA.

the AC compressor has been swapped Yeah, thats definitely not a Harrison A6 compressor. It was probably retrofitted to R134 and they tossed the A6 compressor.

Oh No! Black grease spots in drum of Maytag LA408

replace a transmission oil seal A leaking mounting stem seal and/or worn agitator shaft would be letting oil into the tub not the lower agitator oil seal. Couple of threads going on right now about this job. Hopefully water didn't get into the trans, that would be more work to correct.

You're gonna have to go with an aftermarket stem seal kit, OEM has been discontinued. Here is a how-to thread on the subject: https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?25520...

Could this be the drum bearing seized A bad tub bearing would be the likely explanation. Damper pads look worn but intact, did you lube them with silicone grease? 40+ year old washers are going to need maintenance. You're probably looking at a new tub bearing and stem seal job. Damper pads...

did Cadillac use a points GM didn't introduce HEI until 1974-75 but a '72 could be retrofitted to HEI.

    Garlic lemon chicken

Sounds like the Chicken Picatta I use to make. As I recall, I'd tenderize and bread the chicken breast, then in a sauté pan lightly brown them in olive oil and butter, add white wine, lemon juice, seasonings, some balsamic vinegar for flavor and color and let it simmer until the sauce...

GE Washer/Dryer 1994 (filter flo?) questions

it's an ordeal finding someone to move these Unless they need to be hauled out of a basement with narrow stairs moving W/D's isn't that bad. I've moved lots of them in my Dodge Caravan and before that I moved a washer in the trunk of a Buick LeSabre and a dryer in my Olds Cutlass. One or two...

    Maytag Tub Seals

what is everybody using for seal kits? You'll have to take your chances on an aftermarket stem seal kit unless you can locate an oem kit.

    Maytag LA612 Question

the tub seal kit is not. Aftermarket stem seal kits are available on Ebay and amazon, reviews aren't great but worth a try.

    Maytag A512 02 Spins but Won't Agitate

Ugh.. You painted over a porcelain enamel finish with gray spray paint? Put them out of their misery and part them out now..

GE Washer/Dryer 1994 (filter flo?) questions

a good idea for a non-expert to take these. Grab them first, ask questions later. There are Filter-Flo people here that can help you with any issues. The GE dryers from that era are easy to service and real workhorses.

Maytag Dependable Care won't spin - Bad Tub Bearing?

try to clean that up with emery cloth and then paint I'd start looking for new a new agitator shaft. Sanding and painting isn't a good long term fix, it will just be a matter of time before the lip seal starts leaking again. Not worth the risk with price and availability of new stem kits these...

Maytag Dependable Care won't spin - Bad Tub Bearing?

from some third party manufacturer I haven't seen any aftermarket Maytag tub bearings yet, they all seem to be genuine OEM either Whirlpool or NOS Maytag. Stem kits are another story. As for the oil on the box I wouldn't be too concerned, when installing it should be lubed with Zoom Spout...
