My 806 has been making a grinding/Squealing noise during spin cycle for about 6 months now.Started very faint and short in duration and has been getting louder and longer in duration. It also is starting to bang against the side panel.Thought it was maybe damper pads.Today I exposed the pads and they are at least a 16th of an inch and even in size all the way around. Is there anything else it could be.Not the best pictures.
Thanks Bill

Put it back together and now the drum won’t spin, agitated fine but when it gets to the spin it just squeals (belt slipping)Sounded a bit like the original squeals.when I try and move the drum from underneath I can’t move it far but when it moves I hear a scraping noise.Could this be the drum bearing seized.it spun before I took it apart.

Could this be the drum bearing seized

A bad tub bearing would be the likely explanation. Damper pads look worn but intact, did you lube them with silicone grease?

40+ year old washers are going to need maintenance. You're probably looking at a new tub bearing and stem seal job. Damper pads will need replacement eventually, you don't want them to go metal on metal and destroy the damper.

Sounds like a tub bearing failure...

This is most often caused by a failing tub seal. You can still get both parts aftermarket, although only the bearing is available OEM. The tub seal is part number 6-2095720, and the bearing is part number 6-2040130. You may even be able to temporarily get your current one going by shooting some oil into the wick with a syringe.
Hope this helps,
Thatwasherguy.
