    Why it pays to network...

Thanks Gordon! I'd love to see the 1964 LK 800 if you have the time and opportunity to photograph it. Thanks so much for the explanation. Michael

    Why it pays to network...

1964? Gordon...did the LK 800 for 1964 look exactly the same as the '63s? If so, that must be why I remember my grandmother's dial being back-lit...it was 1964...not 1963.

    Why it pays to network...

Very Strange.... No light behind the timer dial? I distinctly remember my grandmother's LK 800 dial being lit up...which is what made it so beautiful in the dark since you could see those colors. How strange...wonder if my memory is failing me...

    Why it pays to network...

My Grandmother's Washer! That is the exact matching dryer to my grandmother's Lady Kenmore 800. 1962 or 1963 if I recall correctly. Beautiful machine! You're right...a matching pair of the 800s would be FABULOUS!

Estate sale finds Saturday -- Cold Water All

Similar Experiences Gosh Laundress! I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I got Mom to buy GIANT boxes from the restaurant I worked at once I discovered I loved the stuff. (The restaurant washed all the kitchen linens and tablecloths in a large capacity Kenmore with the Penta Vane. The...

Estate sale finds Saturday -- Cold Water All

Cold Power I absolutely HATE washing in cold water...and just don't do it. However, when Cold Power was around, I tried it and got hooked on it. My father was an auto mechanic and I used to get so frustrated trying to get his clothes really clean. I would have boiled them on the stove if my...

New Kenmore Elite branded "LG" H/E top loader.

..."valiant but failed attempt to keep the top-loading f It seems almost insane to me that they don't just start producing top-loading horizontal axis washers. Staber is OK...but lacks capacity, cycle choices, an internal heater, and style. Whirlpool has various patents on the top-loading...

    Swedish Hacking?

All OK This issue has been transparent to me both at work and at home. No problems at all on my end.

    New Frigidaire FL!

Max Fill It's the "press-and-hold" function on the Delay Start button. You can see it in teeny tiny gray superscript to the right on the Delay Start button. There are a couple of buttons with the "press-and-hold" function (like a control-shift function on a computer keyboard).

Bosch 300 next series washer - error code "E:27"

Training Manual Jed: I have the training manual for the Nexxt 300 and 500 series equivalents. Unfortunately, the fault codes only go up to E:24. I've done some detailed research...but can't find anything at all about fault code E:27. Sorry. It's as if it doesn't exist. Have you tried...

    The Fargo '61 Kelvinator

Kelvy Agitator Holes OK...I used the Fabulous! Super Searchalator...and found that the holes create "water-jets" to help the wash action since the water is under the agitator and the concentric action would force the water through the holes as it moves around its axis. The clothes closest to...

    The Fargo '61 Kelvinator

Effectiveness of Concentric Agitation Robert: How would you compare the effectiveness of concentric agitation to Frigidaire's pulsation and most other's oscillation? From a wear standpoint, I would assume pulsation would be the most gentle on fabrics, with concentric action being next most...

    The Fargo '61 Kelvinator

Those Holes on the Kelvy Turquoise Agitator! Robert: I've always wondered about the purpose of the holes in the "steps" between the vanes and on the agitator column. Is there a lint/sand trapping and ejecting mechanism/filter under the agitator...or are they there to assist the agitator in...

    New Frigidaire FL!

Quick Sanitize Unless it's BS marketing hype, the description states that the washer can sanitize clothes in half the time of other machines. With a 1000 watt heater, the only way to speed up the water heating process is to do it without tumbling. Even then, I find it hard to believe they...

    Questions for the Tag Hags

Cool Down Phase reo580: That's the Permanent Press cool down phase. The Kenmore/Whirlpool machines did this as well (along with some other machines of the era, I'm sure). They would drain about half the wash water and then fill back up while using gentle agitation...and repeat. This was done...

    Questions for the Tag Hags

2nd Rinse On Maytag's classic center dial w/ pushbutton consoles, did they ever offer a second rinse via one of the pushbutton options on any of those models?

    Dishwasher film?

Oh...and the fragrance... Forgot to answer your second question Darryl. I'm not entirely sure how to describe the fragrance...it is a bit "citrus-y"...and reminds me of something from my childhood...but I can't place my finger on it... Kinda like a very mild Spic-and-Span and "citrus-y" is...

    Dishwasher film?

How Much? Darryl: There is a scoop that comes in the box. It states one level scoop for hard water...so that is exactly what I used...no more. I put the majority of the scoop (at least 3/4) in the main detergent cup...and the rest in the pre-wash cup. By the way...I don't "believe" in using...
