Estate sale finds Saturday -- Cold Water All

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My parents had one of those Westie fans as well as a small grey speckled General Electric. I loved watching them especially the GE since the speckles made a design. That cold water all is a neat find. Sure is a large size for a trial size. Snowy bleach was used a lot in our house in the Bendix Duomatic. Mom was a nurse and it cleaned her uniforms well without adding much suds along with the Dash in the red box. I sure wish they would bring them both back to the market place. I can still remember the scents they both had. Good finds Greg. Dano-Bendix5

GREG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAh!

Thats the exact same westinghouse fan I have! Nice find! Mine was not as nice! A bit of corrosion on the cage and a cracked fan on mine! But the paint is mint!

Isn't it just a gorgeous rose color!? I love these. I think was told it was mid 50s.

What excellent finds you have! :)

That Cold Water All is sure a mystery to me Greg. I'm betting like we said that maybe it was only offered in a test market area. We used liquid Cold water all for years but never had the powder. Beautiful fan by the way!!! I bet that range book is fun too! Great day at the sales!

All

Greg,

How does the All compare to today's All? I wan't to hear All about it, since I do like the new All. Allright? :-) -Andrew

I seem to remember hearing about Cold Water All during my college years(70-74). And there was another detergent out at the same time called Cold Power.

I never used either one as I thought how can you get clothes clean in cold water?

Cold Power

I absolutely HATE washing in cold water...and just don't do it. However, when Cold Power was around, I tried it and got hooked on it. My father was an auto mechanic and I used to get so frustrated trying to get his clothes really clean. I would have boiled them on the stove if my mother let me. But...when Cold Power came along, that stuff was AMAZING. I could wash Dad's clothes in cold or warm water...and the results were simply unbelievable. Gas and it's smell was gone...all the black lubricating grease would come out...even the used motor oil. When I couldn't get it any more, I almost had a breakdown! LOL! It was the best laundry detergent I have ever used. Since then, I have never washed in cold water again.

In the owner's manual for my LK combo, Liquid Cold Water All was listed as one of the low-sudsing liquids that could be used in the combo. I did not know about the powder formula. Robert, does the powder produce more suds when used in warm or hot water?

Yes and it seems really strong, I remember sticking my hands into the semi-hot water and with that detergent and it causing a minor detergent burn. With cold water it did not burn in any way.

I was inspired to go and try and clean up my westy fan.

Seems it doesn't want to run anymore. Must have disconnected something when I was cleaning and re-oiling the innards. Hmm....

Well thats another project for a not so distant day. :P

Im trying to figure out if there is a way to repair the crack in the blade, so the crack is no longer visible. Maybe some paint will do the trick.
