    No more defending SpeedQueen.

Complementary vs $1200 is indeed a huge jump - selling the board somewhere in the middle (at cost or near it) for a period would have gone a long way toward bridging the design/mfg fault vs out-of-warranty divide. It's also a case where the electronics vs EM debate is hampered by a lack of...

End of an Era, "commercial" VMWs discontinued!

I've never seen one - Are the commercial and non-commercial VMW machines dramatically different? We had a typical standard VMW washer a few years back. Miserable washing performance, and it needed three repairs within a year. I wouldn't have recommended it to anyone.

Wiring In A “Pilot Light” To An A106

It looks like it's part number "2-3260". Typically with Maytag part numbers produced into the later years, the dash would be replaced with a zero, so "203260" could also be possible? Source: Ben's post in this thread: "A606 At Last"...

Fix or replace Bosch Dishwasher SHX68T52UC/09

    >> We do seem to see a lot of breakdowns with him. We turn down 5 to 20 calls a week on them. >> And in spite of their popularity, many companies still don’t wanna fool with them. Statistically, I bet some of those folks had units covered by recalls. At least in the past, Bosch was offering...

    Streaming TV vs. Cable

Any reason you're not trying an antenna for broadcast TV? It's by far the cheapest option, and sounds like exactly what they need based on what was listed in your first post.

Water Inlet Valve 285805 Flow Restrictor

    >> What's the point of having a flow restrictor on a washer inlet valve? It's going to take the same amount of water to fill the tub, whether it flows fast or slow lol It lessens water hammer when the valves close Proportioning for the "warm" temperature when both valves are open Allowing a...

Samsung recalls more than 660,000 washing machines after fire hazard reports

    >> Washers are washers. Computers are computers. The two pieces of equipment do their jobs just fine, apart. You'd be shocked at how much digital logic is in vintage laundry machines. The cam wheels inside mechanical timers are literally firmware, and you can re-program your machine by...

Samsung recalls more than 660,000 washing machines after fire hazard reports

    >> If the fix is a software update, shouldn't that be a clue that software does not belong on freaking washing machines? No, because for all we know the software could be working around hardware limitations, or even issues as a result of unforeseen ways the user is using the machine...

Samsung recalls more than 660,000 washing machines after fire hazard reports

It says that the fix is a software update. It would be interesting to know if the software is at fault (causing hardware to do things it shouldn't), or if the software is being used to work around or compensate for a hardware design issue.

Plumbing washer with vintage duratub sink.

Are you looking to use it in a suds-saving application? If so, take note of the hose arrangements for the pieces you are missing. Mustee's system allowed suds-saving water to be collected, while still permitting overflow draining, but there were extra attachments that had to be used. A few...

Close-up of the damper itself. I don't see or feel any damage to it - nothing is rough, nothing particularly shiny, and no difference in the profile as you follow it around. The dark spots are bits of the damper pad material, glue, or something else stuck to the surface that I'll need to clean...
