Hello everyone, I have a quick question for all of you. Does anybody know how I could potentially wire in the small “Pilot Light” above the dial on my 1969 Maytag A106? Since it’s bottom of the line, the A106 has the spot for the pilot light, including a small glass lens where the light should be, but no actual light. Is there a way to wire one in? I’ve always like the look of the pilot light during operation and would like to add one possibly. Thank you for any help you can give!

I’ve also included the original Electrical Schematic from inside the machine, but it’s a little hard to read some parts of it due to the way my phone camera took the picture.

Adding a pilot light to the basic MT a106

I think you just wire it to the push pole switch on the timer light will be on whenever the knob is pulled out, the light will stay on at the end of the cycle until you remove the clothing and push the knob back in. I think that’s the way they were wired one of the other MT people can advise.

Compare Diagrams: A106 and A606

I've attached wiring diagrams for the A106 and the A606.

On the A606, the pilot light is wired between dedicated terminal PL (which is the hot (L1) side) and terminal L2-PL (which is the neutral side.) You can see on the A606 that the PL and 7 (water level switch) terminals are always hot when the lid is closed and the timer knob switch is on.

The A106 does not have dedicated PL or L2-PL terminal connections. But it has the same 7 terminal feeding the water level switch which is always hot when the lid is closed and the timer knob switch is on. It has an L2 terminal which is the neutral connection.

So on the A106, I believe one could jump a pilot light between the 7 (hot) terminal and the L2-10 (neutral) terminal and achieve the same results.

Thank you for the help with figuring out the wiring. I’d like to find a Factory style lamp to put in, but I know that will be basically impossible to find. Would something simple like a small LED work, or does it need to be the OEM lamp assembly? If so, would anyone happen to know the part number for the light?
