I was still in the womb! LOL

    Deep rinse FL UK/IRL?

Either way Since I adjusted my FL I have had no need to re-wash smelly items or those covered in pet hair. There's no energy savings if you have to re-wash the same load repeatedly (with cycles that are twice as long!) because there's not enough water. Let the machine break. When the time...

Helloooo to one and all you vintage appliance-o-philes!

Welcome! Would love to see a photo of your new (old!) house and its collectibles you described!

    Deep rinse FL UK/IRL?

That scenario you described would be ideal but makes too much sense for American manufacturers to do.

    Deep rinse FL UK/IRL?

Dang that is some WATER! Meanwhile, here in the U.S., our "sensitive setting" would equal an extra teaspoon.

    A Dream Kitchen, 1936-style.

Fabulous The kitchen is gorgeous, and would look right at home down here in many of the houses in this region. Many were built in the 1930s-40s-50s. Mine was built in 1955. There's a great appreciation in this region for preserving architecture and furnishings from this time period.

    Too Hot To Work

South Florida Humidity and Heat! It is funny--we are warmed by the Gulf Stream in the winter, and cooled by it in summer down here. Temperatures in Miami/Fort Lauderdale hover around 85 degrees more or less year round, with a significant drop in humidity during the winter months. Summer nights...

Pink GE set in Syracuse NY

Looks like everyone is a winner here. The seller got an amount for the set they probably never imagined getting, the buyer got another chance to relive cherished times from his past and build new ones with his beautiful set, and we get to enjoy seeing the whole thing unfold. It's a happy ending...

OMG The Latest in the Toy Recall Scandal

Disgusting--now here's my rant on it.... Another case of corporate greed winning out over American consumers--and we have our own government and the Bush administration to thank for it. It sickens me that companies are allowed to reap maxiumum profits by shortcutting the system, so fat ass...

1952 Bendix Dryer -- Need Help

Thanks for the responses guys now, how do I change the cord? :P I've never undertaken such a task before and don't want to create a fire hazard, or worse!

    Alliance Energy Saving Toploaders

So.... sounds like the salesperson wouldn't know what planet they were on if asked, either. With all the crap they are trying to feed you (and the rest of the public also) I would buy only vintage if you want quality, durability, and features with actual usefulness!

1952 Bendix Dryer -- Need Help

Hey guys, earlier this summer I got a 1952 (I believe) Bendix dryer, supposedly it's the mate to the washer that squeezed the clothes instead of spinning (feel free to correct me if I got it wrong!) Anyhow tonight I tried to get it going but ran into two main problems: 1--The modern foil...

Pink GE set in Syracuse NY

What a gorgeous pair. I love the pink color and the pink accents on it most of all I think! For those out there who have done full restorations: how much is it to have a professional repaint on a washer and dryer set?
