I also noticed the early spray rinse, but you have to remember that this was an empty tub which would have more water in it than if it was full of clothes, so chances are the water would have spun out from a full load by the time the spray rinse started.

I certainly hope you can get it back up and running and get your other machine out of their house! With the abuse this machine has seen, I'd hate to see the other get trashed. If I was a renter, forget a SQ, I'd just get them the cheapest thing possible, knowing it won't be taken care of.

Wow, I've never seen a Whirlpool dryer like this before, I'm used to the traditional flat back drum. Can someone explain how the sprinkler function worked? If it was used in air fluff, I take it, it just made the clothes damp so they could be ironed?

Those are very nice machines. The energy difference between that old dryer and a new one would be marginal if anything IMO. I would prefer to just hang on to the older, better made unit!
