I stumbled on this video last night. Other than the content, I noticed that her machine did not engage the lid lock during agitation. Is this new?

She put Downey in the dispenser and added the extra rinse. It will dispense the softener in the 1st rinse, spin, and then do the last rinse. No softener in the 2nd rinse.

No, she made a comment about disengaging the lid switch so she could get it to fill with the lid up to wash out her little soap cup.

How did she go about disengaging the lid switch?
The only attempts I have ever seen meant removing the latch from the lid and taping it down. While that may have been done here, the lid locked light never comes on. In other videos I have seen, you can here the lock engage as soon as the start button is pressed.

Can't imagine Alliance would get rid of the lid lock on a washer with no braking system, a tradition with similar machines (Westinghouse, etc.) that goes back at least the 1960s.
Karen Redding video link: I should hope the TR series would be able to clean a very small load with a triple dose of detergent! Having said that, I enjoy watching these homemade videos. Watched a few of her other offerings and they were good examples of the simple life: She loves her cats, plots revenge when her husband tears out her beloved honeysuckle bushes, and made video of a country band of older guys playing house parties. I would bet the farm we are polar opposites politically, but I still enjoy watching what other people find video-worthy in their day-to-day lives.

the lid lock is THERE....you can just catch a quick glimpse around 7:54....
she is very careful not to let that corner of the area NOT to be shown with the camera.....and basically all she did was remove the catch from the lid, and set it in place....
all she is basically doing as well, is a bunch of small loads....give her a larger family, and she might have a change of mind...all things intended, she is getting a better scrub when needed...and she adapted it to her needs...
actually nothing we haven't done in the past....decades ago, using a Kenmore belt drive with the roto swirl....the small setting was still 2/3 tub of water, but if you wanted serious scrubbing, you washed medium loads....
