Its a Good Thing I Cleaned The Oven

Newer ranges are lighter and tip over easier. The new ranges come with a mounting bracket that goes either on the floor or on the back of the stove that mounts to the floor or back wall and stove attaches to that. No tipping over at all. They have been this way a number of years now. Jon

    A/C gone bad

It might also depend on what you have for a cooling coil in your air handler. These were sized to work together with the 5 ton unit. I went through this 5 years ago when our outside unit had some leaks in it. It was almost a 2 month wait to get another 4 ton unit. When I questioned maybe putting...

Advice sought - moving a GE 'unitized' stacked washer/dryer

When my new set arrive last year, it was delivered standing up in the truck and that is how they brought it in and installed it. They removed the old one the same way. I believe my set is put together and the dryer cannot be removed on its own. These were both Frigidaire units. There was some...

    Weather like this,,

The thing I find with the blower running constantly during cooling season is that once the compressor shuts off the coiling coil warms up and all the moisture that is on the coil gets released back into the air of the house. Brings the humidity up fast. I just run the fan on auto during the...

    Weather like this,,

I over sized my central ac. 3 tons was recommended I went with 4 tons. It works great on these hottest days. I can use the stove all day and it keeps up with it and cycles off regularly. Humidity is removed greatly. The amount of water coming out of the discharge pipe is like a faucet running on...

    Out with the old…

I have a GE dryer like the one you have. Mine is in a hair salon, so multiple loads of towels a day. It works great and now it is on its second washer. The matching GE washer was great also but started rusting on the top inside so decided to replace it. Gave it to a friend and he is still using...

    64 Coldspot fridge frosting up

My first step would be to locate the timer which you have done, then there should be a slot that a screwdriver fits into. Turn this till you hear it click, this should engage the heater.Let it sit for 30 minutes to let them start defrosting, you should hear or see water going into drain pan...

Where to get Kitchen Knives sharpened

We have a place called New England Sharpening Service. I imagine they are a franchise and should be around different areas. They will sharpen anything that cuts, scissors, knives, axes, chain saws, mower blades etc. Maybe check around your area to see if they are any located near you. Have used...

    Fun thread, favorite dishwasher detergent?

Changed recently from Cascade powder to Finish powder. Have tried a bunch of different pods but those foam up to much. Finish works so much better than the Cascade did for me. I now can run a normal wash with a heated dry and everything comes out clean. Was always running a pots and pans cycle...

Coil Stoves Easier to Clean than Glass Top

Something I have tried and regret is I changed the drip pans on my Whirlpool stove from the shinny ones to the black enamel pans. Thought this would be great that I could put them in when cleaning the oven. Well that was fine accept the greater heat retained by the black made the coils warp. No...

Do Any garbage Disposals Have "Sharp blades"?

Thanks John I will start putting more solid waste down. Will start with chicken bones to start the process. Have been putting potato peelings and orange skins down but I guess that has not been enough. Jon

Do Any garbage Disposals Have "Sharp blades"?

I had a problem yesterday with my disposal. It was vibrating like crazy when running. Looked in and the moveable "blades" were locked in position inwards and sideways throwing it off balance. Had to take penetrating oil and drip onto the slots then 3-1 oil to loosen them up so that they would...

Do Any garbage Disposals Have "Sharp blades"?

I had been noticing my disposer was leaving a small ring of waste at the bottom on a regular basis. Ran for longer periods of time with water and sometimes dish detergent to get it all out. It was bugging me why this started recently. Was thinking about what the problem was and if it was time...

Elevator UPS for a Residential Building: Where does one start?

The building I live in has a massive diesel generator to handle the elevators and security systems in the building. All entry doors are fob activated along with the parking gates. All stairway lighting and smoke detectors are covered. We have done a lot of lowering power consumption in low...
