I've been asked by a friend what would be the best way to transport a fairly recent (3 years old) GE Spacemaker 'unitized' stacked washer and dryer unit. The picture is the current model but the one we'll have to move is pretty much the same.
I don't know much about this type of machine - I believe there are some models with a dryer that can be removed for transport but the GE is not one of them apparently.
Our first thought was that we'd have to stand the unit up in a truck (probably the safest thing) however, I was wondering if there was any way this could be moved on its back or a side. I prefer not to but, I have moved a few vintage washers on their sides when appropriate precautions are taken.
Any advice or additional information would be greatly appreciated!
