1 Year Later with new KitchenAid kitchen

Thank you for the detailed write up, always much appreciated. It seems that Whirlpool has really made a quality product with these dishwashers. Glad to see some real engineering, build quality, and innovation coming back to the Maytag and KitchenAid brand. I'm also glad to see Whirlpool...

    New Dishwasher ordered

I’m not sure how the cycle modifiers work in these exact models but I’m guessing it’s similar to the way it worked on the Point Voyager machines. While it didn’t have an auto cycle, the normal cycle was sensor driven. Based on the number of APF purges tripped in the prewash it would select low...

    Touch screen dishwasher

Has there ever been an all touch screen dishwasher, similar to a Maytag Neptune Stain Brain or Whirlpool Vantage? Just curious.

    Newer Maytag dishwasher MDB4949SHZ installed

I do believe the real Maytag Jetcleans had a 1/3 hp motor. I don’t know the exact time line, but the true Jetwash module had a quite a long time line, with some modifications along the way. The original design had the figure 8 Strainer and a direct drive motor, followed the the belt drive...

    Newer Maytag dishwasher MDB4949SHZ installed

Yes you see not all newer dishwashers are bad. I had an 1st series KitchenAid point voyager and while it wasn’t the best in the world, it certainly wasn’t the worst. Glad to see they improved it over the years. I don’t how closely related these Maytag’s are to the original point voyager design...

Fabric Care via Timer vs Multi Speed Motor

That mindset found it ways more into commercial, specifically vended machines, where there were limited choices in exchange for simplicity and durability. That being said multi speed coin op machines are not that uncommon.

Fabric Care via Timer vs Multi Speed Motor

I’m not an expert in manufacturing but my guess is a timer is going to cost about the same amount to manufacture regardless if it’s complex or simple. Offering multiple speeds is just a way to offer more feature for TOL models that will sell for more money. In that kind of large scale...

What is GOOD detergent for a FL washer?

I used German Persil in my Maxima and it worked well. You can see if you like the Persil liquid that they sell in the American market, I just prefer powder. When they stopped selling the powder in the American Market I bought a box of German formula from Amazon. It’s not cheap though.

    Date this KitchenAid dishwasher?

Nice kitchen aid, but is that wall paper on the front??

Westinghouse Laundromat Salt and Pepper shaker

My great grandmother had a large collection of salt and pepper shakers, a lot of her stuff got passed down to my grandmother. She moved into an apartment and we’ve been going through her stuff and I happen to come across these. Did any other brands have miniature replicas of their machines?

    Ultra Wash upper arm clearance.

Also if you aren’t careful the feed cup will catch on taller items too.

    Ultra Wash upper arm clearance.

So I’ve been enjoying my Porcelain tank Ultra Wash that I found a few months ago. Now that the fill valve is fixed it’s been a great performer. I’ve made a few other unauthorized upgrades, including a more deluxe upper rack that is height adjustable. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to put the...

    Cascade Boil Out Sudsing?

Has any boil out users ever had sudsing issues? It’s not over flowing the machine but you can tell it’s slowing the wash action down. Maybe I used too much?? The Ultra Wash does have such large dispenser cups.

    FOUND 1972 GE Filter Flo

I always like these Filter Flos. Was there particular years or reasons that they switched between the straight vane agitator and the ramped agitator?

    Advice with coffee/tea stains

Boil Out Temp I did not realize that Boil Out needs 140 degree water to work properly. The last time I got a box was with my Potscrubber III. Being an older machine designed to have 140 degree water fed to it, the heating element really only maintains the temperature it doesn’t increase it...

Kitchenaid KUDA22 Superba Selectra Upper Arm Doesn't Spin

Does the arm spin freely by hand all the way around? If yes then perhaps the feed pipe has broke or isn’t mating up properly. It may be getting some water but not enough to spin or clean properly.

    Ultra wash fill valve

The fill valve is attached to a bracket which slides into the frame on the right side of the machine. I guess as long as the water worlds I can figure out how to mount it.

    Ultra wash fill valve

So the fill valve on my porcelain tank portable Ultra Wash gave out tonight. According to Sears Parts Direct the part is no longer made, with no substitute. I found the fill valve for a later Power Clean Portable, can I use this. Or is there an easier/better option? The exact model number is...

    1982? Sears/Best Dishwasher

Others might be more familiar with Sears model numbers, especially for Canadians machines. However if you could post a pic of the interior and the control panel it would be easier to identify who made this for Sears and what your options are for parts.
