    Proctor-Silex drip coffee maker

Hi all, I made another unnecessary purchase recently. While I also recently bought a Mr. Coffee JR, I didn't have a full-size drip machine that uses basket style filters. I've been on the lookout for a vintage one, but without much luck. The thrift stores seem to be well stocked with Keurigs...

    Nationwide gas stove ban?

Eddie, I hope you take this the way it's intended. I'm sorry to hear that you have to deal with asthma. I have a family member who has it. It's no joke. And, if you find that gas appliances aggravate your condition, then i don't blame you at all for not wanting them in your home. But, to me...

    Nationwide gas stove ban?

I'm more concerned about all the talk of what the government will try to ban next. Is it just me, or does that not feel "right"? Sure. People don't care so much when it's a ban on something they don't like or don't use. But, if the government is given the power to ban whatever they want...

    "bad"'70s cars that...

Bill, Yup. Even with its problems, I'd take that Granada in a heartbeat! Although, I don't think I'd like the California carb. Ken, I had a 1977 LTD Landau four-door. I may have paid $350 for it. It was one of my favorite cars. Douglas, I had a slant six Duster too. I think it was a 1975. I...

    "bad"'70s cars that...

That's the type of cars that were everywhere when I started driving. I didn't know we were in the "malaise" era. I just thought of them as what cars are. In my early days of driving, I was only interested in owning big cars. A Cadillac was always a dream, but I've never owned one to this day. I...

what year could this whirlpool dishwasher be?

Hans, Would that be photo #10? That might be my favorite of the "before" pictures. I even like the yellow countertops. The kitchen in my parents house, where I grew up, still has the knotty pine cabinets, and the countertops and linoleum that were installed in 1967/1968. If I'm not mistaken, a...

what year could this whirlpool dishwasher be?

bradfordwhite, That was kind of fun. Maybe it just means I'm getting old. But, most of those "before" pictures look warm, homey, comfortable, and welcoming to me. Like a place that I'd like to sit and have a coffee with someone. The "afters", for the most part, look cold and soulless to me.

    Newer smooth top ranges

Yes. Our GE definitely has a texture to the top. Little dots, more or less, and a circle around each burner.

what year could this whirlpool dishwasher be?

Pierreandreply4, No offense. I figured it wasn't your kitchen anyway. And, no hate if someone does like granite. Obviously, a lot of people do! It's just not my thing. Barry

what year could this whirlpool dishwasher be?

John L, I hope it's okay if I chime in on this. I don't know if you're just not a fan of granite in general, or if it's this granite specifically, but I have to agree. I know...different strokes and all. And, I know some people love it. Hey, it's their house, they can do what they want. I've...

    Newer smooth top ranges

Mike, Good to know about the Bon Ami. We've had good results with a product called Cerama Bryte, but it can be difficult to find. Which version of Bon Ami do you use? I know there's a newer powdered version, but it doesn't make the claim of not scratching, like the original bar. Barry

    Newer smooth top ranges

We have a GE convection with a glass top. We've had it for around five years, I guess. So far, the top still looks pretty much like new. We're pretty careful not to drag pots and pans across it, but it gets used quite a bit, so I'm sure it has happened. Barry

What model is this Panasonic Inverter?

Alex, Maybe a bit off topic, but I had to chime in regarding the Sharp Carousel. We have a Carousel II that was a freebie from my in-laws. It's an R-5H82...circa July 1991. It has needed one repair, and I don't remember what it was. But, it's still a daily driver! Barry P.S. The washer in...

    Maytag J2L

Eddie, I just looked at Whink on Amazon. There's a foaming version available in a trigger sprayer. Have you ever tried that one? It must be slightly different from the original version, because, I believe the original has a warning not to use it on bathtubs. But, the foaming version says tubs...

Decal/logo on '47 Granted, it's the least of my problems. But, I took a really close look at the front of the '47. And, in the right light, from just the right angle, I can just barely see where the "Maytag" decal used to be. I can see that it wasn't the more slick looking red script that I was...

Tub staining Here ya go! It did come from a house that used well water. So, I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. It's very shiny, even in the stained ares. It sounds crazy, but I'm wondering if, instead of getting rid of the stains; could someone have put some sort of a clear...

I just noticed, while trying to familiarize myself with the tub of the '47; there doesn't appear to be the rubber ring on the agitator post that I've seen and heard mentioned. I believe its function is to prevent the agitator from floating off the post when the tub is full of water. This machine...
