John L,

I hope it's okay if I chime in on this.
I don't know if you're just not a fan of granite in general, or if it's this granite specifically, but I have to agree.
I know...different strokes and all. And, I know some people love it. Hey, it's their house, they can do what they want. I've just personally never been a fan.
I read real estate listings sometimes, and it seems like everyone "updates" their kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances before putting the house on the market.
I'm willing to bet I would have preferred it before the "updates".
Apparently, I'm in the minority though.
Okay. Rant over. I apologize. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Pierreandreply4,

No offense.
I figured it wasn't your kitchen anyway.
And, no hate if someone does like granite. Obviously, a lot of people do! It's just not my thing.

You aren't alone.

I don't even bother looking at the "after" pics anymore.

radioactive granite is horrible. And easily damaged with a sledgehammer when the crap needs to be ripped out and a nice, affordable, long lasting, easy to install laminate counter top put in.

bradfordwhite,

That was kind of fun.
Maybe it just means I'm getting old. But, most of those "before" pictures look warm, homey, comfortable, and welcoming to me. Like a place that I'd like to sit and have a coffee with someone.
The "afters", for the most part, look cold and soulless to me.

Hans,

Would that be photo #10?
That might be my favorite of the "before" pictures. I even like the yellow countertops.
The kitchen in my parents house, where I grew up, still has the knotty pine cabinets, and the countertops and linoleum that were installed in 1967/1968.
If I'm not mistaken, a couple of my uncles built the cabinets.
