    POD 6/26/12 - Maytag 142 Set

Great POD showing the early 142 in Suds drag. Love the color in the ad and the bronzed lint filter. I have this same machine in white, and Kevin recently found a newer set in Pank. I have saved and printed this to go above the washer in the laundry room.   Thanks for posting   -Tim

    Canadian Easy by GSW

"I didn't think that a machine this old would have a If by that you mean a reversing motor, then yes, they've been around since the beginning of time. Maytag, GE, Easy and all kinds of machine, anything really that spin-drains used a reversing motor.   If you mean that the motor reverses for...

Spotted during a call... A rare(?) Kenmore dishwasher

D&M During my childhood I remember my Aunt constantly having the dishwasher repaired. The Linoleum under the front of the dishwasher had began to suffer water damage and I remember later on it was just used to store dish towels. She never pulled it out, her husband was a hardcore Sears guy...

Spotted during a call... A rare(?) Kenmore dishwasher

1970 Seems awful modern for 1970, weren't roto-racks still around in '70. I think 84 is closer, we had this machine in my Aunt's house and it was an 81 or 82... I'd be interested to know.   And yes, it's a D & M   Thanks   -Tim

RIP 1983 GE Carry cool air conditioner

Carry-Cool Over the years our family had numerous GE Carry-Cool and HP Porta-Cools and we only ran into 2 issues with them, 1 being the fan motors seizing and the other would be freeze-up of the coils. The one I have, and still have requires a good oiling every seasin and it's good to go.  ...

Vintage Maytag set on Minneapolis CL

Maytags I'm going to place them at being at least a late 1976 or later set, A208S and a DE408. The washer has the addition of the word "load" on the water settings, and if a matched set (which I'm assuming they are) the 408 didn't hit the market until 1976. Oh I wish I was in MN right now.   -Tim

    Start Laughing.....

To each their own Meh, I think it would clean up a bit, and if the price was right could make someone a cool little machine if that's what they like. Also I've seen people here overpay for far worse Maytags and Speed Queens only to have them comeback in luster Tom, I do agree with you about...

    Start Laughing.....

Oh Lord That hurts to see. On a another note, this is a Canadian 0512. It could very well work, but it's more to the $25 tune.   -Tim

    Twin tub for sale

"Pricey" The model 500 in the link is pricey, but it's also very special being the 1st generation of the Hoover machines for sale here in the US. Parts would be scarce for it and these were much more complex machines that the later ones. Kevin, I emailed you about these machines at your yahoo...

    70s Maytag dryer

Wiring As Goatfarmer said it could be wiring. These Maytags use brass terminals surrounded by ceramic that go through the heater can and the wires have eyelets that go over the terminal studs. These can over the years come lose and/or degrade and burn through. I just worked on a DE408 dryer...

    Maytag 1970s Washer and Dryer

Maytags The washer looks like a HA407, the control panel and the fact that the dryer is a Halo of Heat indicated that these could only be made from 1975 to mid-1976 when they went to the Big-Load dryers. They are nice looking machines, if both working I'd say $100 to $150 for the set. The dryer...

Tennessee Appliance Dealer Going out of Business

Wonderful Trip So I had a very good time in Knoxville on my trip down there. Abe was a very nice guy and what I thought would be an in and out trip turned into hours of talking. He still had some neat stuff, however my budget at the time and truck capacity limited further purchase. I was great...

Does anybody know which model Maytag this is?

A308 Yes, Brian did nail it, it's an A308. The "08" series are mostly distinguishable over 06/07 series by the addition of the word "load" on the water level buttons (ie. Small Load). The 406 I don't think ever made into the gold escutcheon machines like the 407/408.   The machine also does...
