Maytag dishwasher module

Got several little tidbits from Abe today. A General Electric Sales Training Kit and a recent GE appliance specs catalog.

Also a Maytag Power Module cutaway, as you can see in the picture. Remember when Maytag used to have these on display at appliance stores? [this post was last edited: 6/5/2012-17:48]

and the cutaway view

You can see the filter backwash mechanism, as well as the drain and wash impellers. Unfortunately, the hard food wastear disposer blade doesn't show up, but its directly above the drain impeller.

the Maytag Jetclean!

Here are a couple of pages from a Maytag Reverse Rack brochure of the approximate same vintage as the Jenn Air Reverse Rack posted above

Wonderful Trip

So I had a very good time in Knoxville on my trip down there. Abe was a very nice guy and what I thought would be an in and out trip turned into hours of talking. He still had some neat stuff, however my budget at the time and truck capacity limited further purchase. I was great meeting John and tearing into the KA washer, which was still NEW! I got my Whirlpool demo as well as a few bins of parts and agitators, including the fabric softener dispenser for my older GE.

Just a sample of what I picked up in parts...

You did good, Tim!

Lot of nice loot, in addition to the "see-thru" washer.
Sorry I didn't get to meet you there. Abe is a really nice gentleman with a lot of stories!

I wish I would have known about his store back when he said he he had so many used appliances in the basement he could hardly walk through it.

Did you get your Whirlpool hooked up, yet? Would be great if you could post some pictures/videos of it in operation.

Two questions. Aside from the name, is there any difference between a Maytag and a Jenn-Air? What kind of agitator would the Kitchen Aid have?

Big thank you to Tim

I'm planning to buy the KitchenAid washer with the rapid advance timer, but Abe wasn't quite sure what is wrong with it -- he thought the fill solenoid.

I barely walked in the door Sunday morning before Tim, whom I've never met, leaped into action. In no time he had the KA apart and found that everything worked fine, including the timer and fill solenoid. It is missing the fill flume and the front self-leveling feet. Tim found a couple of feet, though, so all I need is the flume. I would literally have had no idea what to look for or even how to start taking the machine apart.

I've said it before but aw.org people are the best!

YAY for the KA washer!

John,

As you found out, Tim is an amazing, friendly, helpful guy. I saw him in action at Kevin's wash-in and was very impressed at his efforts getting the yellow Westy front loader going again. Of course others had their hands in it too (John, Jeff, Nate, etc.) but Tim came up with a way to secure the boot to the drum and many other things as well. He is definitely an asset to have around as a friend and when it comes to his knowledge with appliances. Good going Tim!

Just my .02 cents

Patrick

You're a good guy, Tim!!

Brian, as far as I can tell, the Maytag and Jenn Air dishwashers came down the same assembly line. A worker slapped a Maytag Escutcheon on one and a Jenn Air on another.

Michael, no need to kill, ha. They are out there. I am sure you will find a Maytag or Jenn Air RR.

I'll keep an eye out for you, they occasionally show up around here. Are you specifically wanting an electronic control model? Or just a belt drive RR, in general??

Jenn-Air TOL RR DW

I have a TOL JA RR DW from 1988 that has all push-button electro-mechanical controls and even has the delay wash timer. It is in perfect operating condition and has a brand new complete pump module. We have $200 in it for the new pump module, someone come and get it or at some point it will be scraped and parted out. Contact me if anyone wants it, I already have a brand new MT RR just like it so I am keeping the MT for the museum. I have had and used the MT RR DWs in mine and friends homes and they just don't hold enough and are too restrictive in loading compared to the WP and KAs that I have. , so it won't ever make it into my kitchen.

another find at Abe's

Picked up another goodie at Abe's today...

The sign was made for outdoor display and Abe never put it up. It's flourescent
backlit. You can see it sitting next to my lawn tractor, so you can get an idea of the size. About 3' by 3'.

Abe has a Maytag sign that is the same size, if anyone is interested. He also has outdoor backlit Whirlpool sign that is about 2 and half by five feet (just estimating)that he would like to sell.

A couple of good collectible items that you could put in your laundry rooms.
