Modern washing machine energy usage claims: propoganda, or real?

My suggestion is to get the machine that will make you happy. People have different preferences and priorities, and thus make different choices. I will share my experience switching from a traditional TL washer to a HE FL washer. I had a GE Filter-Flo TL washer that I enjoyed using. My...

    Home security systems

I second what Verizonbear said about SimpliSafe We have had simplisafe for a few years now. It is easy to install, and there are no contracts. You can determine the type and number of sensors you want to install, and assign each sensor a name. I can see if the left front bedroom window has been...

    Whirlpool Duet washer strange noise

With no kids in the house, I don't always check pockets. I have washed coins, a lip balm, a pair of earbuds and tissues a few times. Nothing has ever managed to escape the drum. The earbuds worked fine, although I did catch them before they made it into the dryer. My Kenmore HE3t, purchased in...

Anyone want a Breville Smart Oven or other big ticket item from Williams-Sonoma?

If anyone is looking to buy a Breville Convection Smart Oven Plus, Wiiliams-Sonoma has them on sale for $199.96. Just saw this in the store today.

    Electric Pressure Cookers

I have an inexpensive electric pressure cooker I bought at ALDI since I wanted to try a pressure cooker to see if I would like it. I have used it several times, and it worked well, so I don't see a need to purchase a different one. Since I had no experience using a pressure cooker, I liked that...

"New" GE A/C on the fritz

Did you keep it plugged in long enough for the compressor delay to time out? I unplug my Frigidaire wall unit during the winter, and it needs to be plugged in several minutes before the compressor will start. Same thing with my dehumidifier - it too needs several minutes after being plugged in...

Anyone want a Breville Smart Oven or other big ticket item from Williams-Sonoma?

I have the older version which doesn't have an interior light or the slow cook function. I love it, and use it all the time. It cooks evenly, and I have baked many pies and cakes in it. I use it much more often than my full sized oven as it is a great size when making dinner for the two of us. I...

what's wrong with this Speed Queen?

Just don't freak out about the amount of water in the drum. When I got my HE3t many years ago, I thought I had read enough about how little water FL machines used and had prepared myself. Yet when I actually used it, I couldn't believe it was working correctly, or that it could clean my...

I've Had A Relapse: Fabric Softener

I agree with DADoES...I am a big fan of Snuggle Exhilarations White Lavender and Sandalwood. I only use a little bit, and it leaves clothes soft with a light, not-too-feminine scent.

Possible Whirlpool Duet Sport Craigslist find...

I believe the duet sports do not have an angled drum like the older duets, so it is difficult to compare water levels, as an angled drum machine will appear to have less water. My Mom has a duet sport, and its operation is noisier and overall less refined than my older, original duet sister...

    Dead Bosch - New AEG

Congrats on your new machine! It is interesting that you select the temperature of the auto cycle. On current US Bosch machines, I have the understanding that there is one auto cycle, and it will vary the water temperature depending on the load.

Water sitting in my LG 2650 washer's liquid detergent cup

Have you checked the water jets above the drawer? Maybe they need to be cleaned. On my non-LG machine I remove the drawer occasionally and clean the area above the drawer.

    Possible Upgrades...

Have you checked that the legs are set properly and supporting equal weight? If not, get on the floor during a shaky spin and see if extending a bouncing leg makes a difference.

might be time to retire the LG Turbodrum

Have you tried a different detergent? Maybe you got a bad batch and it forms precipitates when it reacts with minerals in your water. I remember using some Sears detergent on a trip to Las Vegas, and when it combined with the local hard water, it left what looked like lint all over the clothes.

    Bertazzoni dishwasher?

    Interesting, thanks.

    Bertazzoni dishwasher?

I find it odd that it has an exposed heating element. I thought that Euro models all had concealed elements. What is that thing on the bottom of the tub in the rear left?
