New Whirlpool FL Washers Use MORE Water

My HE3t has a flow meter, so it measure how much water is used for the wash part of the cycle, and then does a calculation adding a certain amount extra for the rinse. So it doesn't need to measure the water level when filling for the rinses. If I divert a little water out of the drawer during...

New Whirlpool FL Washers Use MORE Water

My HE3t is almost 11 years old, so I am trying to plan ahead when it is time to replace it.

New Whirlpool FL Washers Use MORE Water

Comparing similar models, the new models appear to use more water and energy based on Energy Star website information. Although Whirlpool's FL washer's performance is rated fairly highly rated by consumer reports, perhaps Whirlpool realized that they needed to use more water and possibly higher...

    Newer WP Duet Owner's

The Fan Dry option will periodically tumble the load after the end of the cycle for up to 12 hours while the integrated fan circulates air through the washer to reduce humidity. The idea is that it could dry a small load of light items, like a sport uniform, overnight. The EcoBoost option...

    Newer WP Duet Owner's

My friend recently purchased a Whirlpool Duet WFW94HEA that I recommended, and has been very happy with it. Her husband loves it too, and has been doing a lot more of the laundry, which she likes. Based on the photos of the soon to be released Whirlpool Duets, the WFW94HEA replacement, the...

fluff program at end of front load wash cycle

I assumed all front load washers have a fluff period at the end of the cycle. My Kenmore HE3t tumbles back and forth for about 2:30 after the final spin. Rarely is anything stuck to the drum, and it makes unloading easier than pealing things off the drum. I do shake some clothes, but things like...

    No CHEER in Chicago.

I haven't seen Cheer for Darks in Philly for about 6 months. I have recently seen the "stay colorful" version.

    Two new dishwashers!

Congrats! That KitchenAid is the exact model my family had when I was growing up. The 180F Sani-rinse was hot. If you run that cycle with a heated dry, you will NOT be able to touch the dishes when the cycle finishes. If I remember correctly, the normal cycle has 7 water changes. R-R-PreW-W-R-R-R

Spotted! Tide Simply Clean and Fresh!

I wonder if the US will get a powder version of Tide Simply Clean & Fresh. The way powders seem to be out of favor with the masses, I doubt it.

    Dishwasher pacs

When I got my Bosch dishwasher in 2005, it had a sticker on it promoting Cascade. But they have since switched to promoting Finish in the US too. At one point, the brand Finish was stamped into the dispenser drawer. I don't know if they still do that, but I thought it a bit tacky.

    Dishwasher pacs

You may be able to get a good deal on the Finish Tabs if you have a Target near you. Over the weekend, I saw the "Buy 2, get one Free" 3 box package of tabs on clearance for under $10. The price came to less than 10 cents per load. It was in the seasonal bulk bargain area, not the detergent section.

    New Bosch D/W...it's a keeper!

We, along with all our neighbors, had a whole house softener where I grew up in Ohio, where the water was fairly hard. There was a separate, unsoftened cold water line that ran to the kitchen sink so that we wouldn't drink the softened water, use it for cooking, or for the ice maker. Since many...
