Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

The drum or whatever you call it is about 2/3 full of water with the laundry out so it got enough water in there. If the fill level switch was not detecting the water was there, wouldn't it keep filling it because it wouldn't know when to stop? If the lid safety switch crapped out, wouldn't...

Need Help Quick with Maytag A612 Washing Machine

I'm in a bit of a bind with the Maytag A612 washer that's in my cabin. The renter who was in there last week called me late last night and told me the machine just shut off in the middle of a load and they couldn't restart it. They said they would try to get it working again and would call me...

Persistance and resourcefulness really pays off! (Or how I saved a '56 GE Range)

In other posts I've talked about the '56 40 inch GE Canada Speedster Range that's in my summer cabin. Last year, I had problems with the oven. Skipping the details of a very long convoluted story, I thought I had the problems resolved and reinstalled the thermostat that I had taken out...

What would you do in this situation?

    > These look very similiar to the US versions except the receptacles and light switches differ. Those actually aren't light switches you see on the dashboards. Those switches control the heaters for the warming drawers below the oven. These Canadian models also differ from the US models in...

Where are the fuses located on this Vintage GE range?

If you see one of my other threads (http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?73137_3) I just bought a Stratoliner (I think it's a '55) today. The fuse box was under the warming drawer which is where I think it is on my '56 Speedster. Thanks to all that chimed in with suggestions.

What would you do in this situation?

I just purchased the Stratoliner for $100 CAD (~$80 USD). Pretty good deal considering all the spare parts I can get off of it. Not everything is transferable to the Speedster but a lot is. I wasn't able to try it out to see what's working or not but it looks to be in really good condition...

What would you do in this situation?

I may be facing a bit of a condundrum (a good kind) and I need a little help making a decision. In my cabin I have a 1956 GE Speedster Range (Picture 1). It's been in the family since 1973 and my Mother was in love with it. I really like it too. I've had some issues with the oven temperature...

Has anyone got this vintage GE Oven temperature Control Dial?

I'm looking for one of these oven temperature control dials for a 1955-ish GE Stratoliner or Liberator range at a reasonable price. I believe the part number is 461A605G1. I've located at least one or two of them on eBay but they're asking like $90 for one. The thing is those knobs are meant to...

Where are the fuses located on this Vintage GE range?

This model has fuses for the oven and for each of the elements and other things as well. See the attached wiring diagram. It is a single oven model with a warming drawer below the oven. I'll get him to pull the lower drawers out and if no luck pull the storage drawer out beside the oven. Last...

Can you help me ID the model and year of this 50s GE Stove?

A friend of mine sent me a picture of his 50s Canadian made GE Stove. The model number is RD 46A-55 W. I assume the W stands for "white". The serial number is simply 55040115. That's a '55 isn't it? The model number nomenclature is quite a bit different from that used on my 1956 Speedster...

Where are the fuses located on this Vintage GE range?

I have a 1956 GE Speedster range in my cabin (see pic). I'm not there and it's 400 miles away. I'm trying to have a friend check the fuses for me but I can't remember where they are. The back panel covering the electricals is off and the fuses aren't there. There are a couple of other access...

Pls Help me understand and diagnose this oven control circuit

This is the range. I can get my caretaker to look at the fuses but I can't remember where they are on this unit. The back is off the unit but they're not back there. Do you have to lift/hinge the top off to get at them?

Pls Help me understand and diagnose this oven control circuit

Attached is a photograph of the internals of the thermosat with the diastat taken out. The annotation shows where the diastat presses down. In this state there is continuity between the left two contacts and the right two contacts. When the diastat presses down far enough, the centre spring...

Pls Help me understand and diagnose this oven control circuit

Okay, I did some more experimentation with the thermostat sensor bulb in the oven and answered my own question. I now see that (a) my thermostat works (yaaaay!) and what happens is that contact between L and 1 and 2 and L1 is broken when the temperature in the oven hits the set temperature. When...

Pls Help me understand and diagnose this oven control circuit

I have a Canadian made 1956 GE Speedster range model no. CJ405NA1W. I think it's pretty much the same as the US made J405 of that year except for maybe a few small differences here and there. One difference appears to be that the Canadian factory sourced its oven thermostat from a Canadian...

    Conundrum, What would you do?

On second look it appears the B in the Stratoliner model number may actually be a D. So it maybe RD46A-55 W. The W likely signifies white. The R could mean Range or, according to this, may mean August 1958. http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16195...
