Where are the fuses located on this Vintage GE range?

I have a 1956 GE Speedster range in my cabin (see pic). I'm not there and it's 400 miles away. I'm trying to have a friend check the fuses for me but I can't remember where they are. The back panel covering the electricals is off and the fuses aren't there.

There are a couple of other access panels on the back but there are no fuses there either.

Are they under the stove top on these models?

I would have your friend remove the bottom storage drawers, and look in that area. Another possible location is in the left side if this is a single oven version with storage next to the oven.

Most US models of GE ranges only have fuses for the lights, clock and receptacles (not the top or oven elements), and usually are located on the front of the control panel.

This model has fuses for the oven and for each of the elements and other things as well. See the attached wiring diagram. It is a single oven model with a warming drawer below the oven. I'll get him to pull the lower drawers out and if no luck pull the storage drawer out beside the oven. Last resort will be to undo the two screws and hinge the cooktop back to have a look under there. It has to be there somewhere!

It's been so long since I had to change a fuse on that thing I've forgotten where they are!

If you see one of my other threads (http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?73137_3) I just bought a Stratoliner (I think it's a '55) today. The fuse box was under the warming drawer which is where I think it is on my '56 Speedster.
