HELP! Chipped the base of my KitchenAid stand mixer!

Kitchenaid's services is phenomenal I don't know about finish, but mechanically they handled my repair on a 20 something year old machine and returned it in like new state.   They have a repair/refurbish unit at the factory, much like Kirby does for their vacuums.    Repair and...

The REAL story of the 'real thing'

I was working in a convenience store when the fiasco happened.  People hated "New" Coke.  and many did taste the difference when Classic was re-introduced.    I remember the taste tests that were set up by Pepsi, and I don't know nationally, but in our little sales are, Coke lost a large...

    The price of eggs

I have paid as little as .46 for dz eggs at Walmart recently.  I gave $1.19 at Dillons last week.  What I prefer is when my neighbor gives me eggs from his chickens.  Now those are the absolute best.

Cascade Fryer Boil Out V. STPP Sodium Tripolyphosphate

My experience: With the institutional Cascade/Fryer Boil Out.   If you have an older machine that reaches the higher wash temperatures (140-160F), it will work well.  If you have a newer machine (105-120F), it may not give  you great results.    My older Maytag Jet clean machine gave great...

Dollar 🌲 Fresh n' clean powder detergent.

I shop dollar tree For donations to the hygiene pantry. Many of the homeless or transient people can't use of carry large quantities, so the single use of trial sizes are just perfect for their needs, and it doesn't break the bank to help them out either.

    Bleach Detergent?

It kind of defeats the "automatic" part of the automatic cycle, but you won't do if too often. Wait until after the main wash drains and then open the door and pour in a shot glass (1oz) or so of LCB, then resume the cycle.    This way you get the bleaching action, you don't have to worry...

    Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team Vacuum

Great Vacuum You got yourself a great deal. Bags are still available, unfortunately the distributor brush roll is NLA, and cost a fortune if you can find old stock. Just remember you can always send it my way if you tire of it.

WSJ Editorial Board: Make Dishwashers That Clean Again

That's close to 1000$ today. Just as a perspective... And a new Kitchen aid will cost you upwards to $1500 today, and still be designed to fail in five to eight years. Perspective: the year my mom bought her first dishwasher, you could get a decent slightly used car for $1500. I just think...

WSJ Editorial Board: Make Dishwashers That Clean Again

Cleaning ability is not my major concern With modern appliances.  It's their planned obsolesce.  There used to be a day when 15-20 years was a good life for a water using appliance.   Many real Kitchenaids have lived 30 or more years.    Now if you get five, you have  quality machine.

Whirlpool vs. Speed Queen vs. Samsung?

Depending on the failure, You may still be under warranty.  I would contact WP service.  Though A&E factory service is a joke, if it is something like electronics that is covered for 5 years, you may come out ahead.

    Driver on the roads, GM strike;

As Norma Rae would say U.N.I.O.N. My dad worked for Boeing for 30 years.  There were strikes along the way, but they resulted in the better for the workers and their families in the end. The "Scabs" Non-union workers that crossed the picket line still benefitted from the union contracts...

Dolly Breast That's funny,  I said the same thing when I was buying chicken breast at Sam's recently. I actually split the breast into halves and they were still larger than a portion for each of us.   When I make homemade chicken and noodles.  I often buy a 5lb bag of legs and thighs, and...

Considering buying an "Insta-Pot", are they any good?

I bought mine on QVC after Christmas blow out I got the 8qt model and the optional stainless Steel insert.    Mine doesn't start counting down the cooking time until it reaches pressure.  So if I set it for 30 minutes cooking, it cooks for 30 minutes under pressure.  Then you make the...

Considering buying an "Insta-Pot", are they any good?

Have to add: I love mine. I have several stove top PCs but I really like the Insta-Pot for the delay and keep warm functions. You can "set and forget" it.  Typical usage:  I come home at 3:30 to get my daughter off the bus.  Realize I forgot to put a roast in the crock pot that morning. ...
