    My Whirlpool dishwasher

Reply #42 Why waste water and time? Just let it run while you sleep. 3rd rack dishwashers are so big that a family of 5 can fit an entire days worth of dishes in them. I never understood the need for quick washing unless you have a huge family or once or twice a year for the Hollidays. In...

    EPA Reversals

Reply #17 Ok. I see now this should have been posted in the Dirty Laundry section. EPA regulations are political and I see now that Dirty Laundry is for political posts. My Apologies. However, I noted it more so on the future of machine engineering. With everyone’s love for the PowerClean...

Looks like dishwasher will be getting the green light to use more water. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/energy-and-environment/3316721/trump-orders-reversal-biden-rules-dishwashers-washers-lightbulbs/ EPA Reversals

This must have been the inspiration for WPs current third racks

I absolutely love that layout. I’d need more room for cups, but it makes a lot of sense!

2017 Speed Queen 9 series Top Load 5 Year Maintenance

Reply to #3 Hey John. Thanks for the info. I usually do 8-9 per week. The only thing I could think of was changing the belt. When inspected it looks fine. No squeaking with pulley either. The only issue I’ve ever had is maybe twice a year the valve that puts water in the tub drips. After...

2017 Speed Queen 9 series Top Load 5 Year Maintenance

I purchased new in the fall of ‘18. It has performed flawlessly over this almost 7 year stretch, but time flies and I’m already almost 2 years past the 5 year general maintenance recommendation. Other than hose replacement, what should I be replacing/inspecting? I don’t see specifics in the...

    Comparing Available Powder Detergents

Reply to post #11 I found a container on Amazon that works well. I’d recommend it. I just open the cascade box from the top and empty into the container. Then just use a tbs or scoop and you are good to go. It even has a leveler in it. https://a.co/d/9R1TPhF

    Comparing Available Powder Detergents

I love cascade powder. 2 tbs in the main and 1 tbs in the prewash. Powder is great, last a long time, allows for a true prewash, and has a great cost per load.

Do you use heated dry on your dishwasher?

I do. Tried it both ways and heated dry definitely makes a difference on my KA Global Wash Gen 2 even with cascade power dry. It’s also the default option of ProWash (sensor wash) which the machine defaults to if you just press start 2 times.

    Looking for a Reliable Refrigerator

I’m looking for a bottom freezer non-French door refrigerator that is well built and has reliable parts (especially the compressor). What would be your recommendations?

    Whirlpool Duets for Sale

Every time I go on Facebook marketplace, I see a Whirlpool Duet set for sale. That just goes to show the quality of that line of machine. Some of these units are going on 24 years old! Kudos to Whirlpool for building a classic! I wish I would have got one new back in 2005. Probably would...

    AI in laundry...

I don’t show anger with anyone that isn’t purposely trying to ruin something. I might be angry, but yelling at someone that wasn’t taught how to do something isn’t the right thing to do in my view. As much as I love my machines I look at it as my fault if things aren’t explained to the person...

He's at it again - TechnologyConnections about DWs

I’m a big fan of Cascade powder. I use two tablespoons in the main wash and 1 in the prewash with my KitchenAid KDFE204KPS. I also have rinse aid programmed off as I don’t have a need for it. I just hit prowash and let the sensor do its thing. These 2nd gen manual filter machines are great! I...

SQ - Considering switching from TL to FL. Need advice

Top loaders definitely have their place. If I owned a farm and was covered in mud or washed things with lots of pet hair the top loader is your best bet. Front loaders are great for every day loads. I will say that for athletic wear just make sure you have a machine with prewash or you will...

Number of Cycles on Modern Washing Machines

I Despise Cycles All we need is wash time, water temperature, load size, spin speed, wash intensity, and a couple options: prewash, soak, extra rinses. Give me 5 knobs and a few buttons. To me, that’s the perfect washer. If people can’t figure that out, maybe they should pay someone to wash...

    2017 Speed Queen Washer Sounds

I second what John said. It’s working great. I have a 2017 model and that is what mine sounds like. I’ve been working it decently hard (1-2 loads a day) for 5 years straight and it sounded like that from day 1 and still sounds that way on day 1,800. Nice machine!

Need Help Picking a New FL Set

LG Temps I believe from threads that I’ve read that LGs do get up to proper temps: 140 for hot, 105 for warm, ect. All you have to do is select the corresponding temp with the highest soil setting, I believe. You can even check your washer’s temps with the press of a couple buttons. There is...

Please tell me about this model

I was looking at a used speed queen stacked unit. I’ve attached the model, product, and serial numbers below. Could someone tell me what year this machine was made by these numbers? They are selling for $1000. Also, how intensive is removing and cleaning the drums on these machines? Thanks!

To pre-rinse dishes or not to pre-rinse...

I purchased a new BOL 3 rack Kitchenaid 2nd generation manual filter machine in 2021. I use 2 tbs cascade in main wash and 1 tbs in prewash. I completely fill my machine with dishes. After the wash is done, I never have particles left on top of my cups, ect. If water is left on cups, the...
