    Who Made These Washers?

Maybe that large letter Is a B for Bendix? Or, was Electrolux in the laundry business back then?

Liquid detergent cap (can't see dosage lines)

Also I never measure liquid detergent for the FL It just depends on how soft the water is, how soiled the clothes are, and whether the load includes undershirts which would thus have antiperspirant on the sleeves. The latter will definitely require more detergent. With soft water and...

Liquid detergent cap (can't see dosage lines)

Two end of bottle solutions 1) pull the pourer out of the bottle neck, replace cap, store bottle upside down for awhile and then all remaining detergent will be in the cap for use 2) put some hot water in the bottle, shake it up, pour over the dry laundry in the cylinder and repeat. If you...

    Correct Way of Treating Stains

Persil I pour Persil Stain Fighter formula on the stain, do not rub it, and set it aside for an hour or so to allow the enzymes to work. Then throw it in the wash with the rest of the load. This has never failed and it works better than Shout and other stain products, which I no longer...

Hard-Water Rinse - Calgon - PotD - Norge Dispenser Wheel

Decades ago I used to put Calgon in the wash water for white loads, per the old Calgon commercials. And I think I had to buy three new wash baskets from Maytag. I blamed it entirely on Maytag’s declining quality. Many years later it dawned on me that the Calgon was probably the trigger. I...

Pictures? I’ve always wanted to attend this but never been able to get away. If it didn’t take place that’s a shame.

    Dr Pepper

And now that I Googled it Dr Pepper apparently denies that prune juice is an ingredient.

    Dr Pepper

In case people don’t know Prune juice is what gives Dr. Pepper its unique flavor. Many years ago I said to someone: Dr Pepper drives me nuts because something about it tastes so familiar but I simply cannot identify what it is. He looked at me and said: prune juice! Bingo. I’ve always...

POD 1959 GE TOL Washer Possibly WA955S

We had the dryer but not the washer It ran extremely quietly and smoothly to the end. When the folks replaced it, in 1973 or 1974, it was running too hot and blowing fuses. Probably just a simple thermostat. I’ve always wondered how many more years it would have run. It was very well made...

I don’t get it. What are the compartments to the left and right of the oven?

I Removed Sharpie Ink From a Shirt

Olive oil Vinaigrette is a difficult stain to remove from Polo shirts. But Persil Stain Fighter will do it. The secret is to moisten the stain with Persil, don’t rub, and set it aside for at least 30 minutes and preferably longer, up to a couple hours. Then, without rubbing or anything...

1954 Blackstone Ad, Including Mahogany Table

Thanks for sharing! Very interesting. The days of promotional gifts are long gone. Remember how savings and loans used to periodically have a lobby full of promotional gifts ranging from toasters to console TVs? And give every customer a poinsettia at Xmas?

One dead, A806 In Cleveland Ohio

The A806 Is one of my all time fave machines. So beautiful. Every option you could need. So smooth and quiet running compared to the others. But the SQ FL ended it all for me, in terms of wanting vintage machines for everyday use and thinking they were the best. The SQ FL, with extra...

One dead, A806 In Cleveland Ohio

Save the wash basket too! I wanted one at one time and couldn’t’t get a new one. Maytag kept sending me defective wash baskets and telling me to keep them.

    WWII submarine laundry

Great story Thanks for sharing it. Stressful existence indeed, and at such a young age. Difficult to imagine what our nation would be today if it weren’t for all the young men who served and sacrificed their lives in that war.

    WWII submarine laundry

Aactually on second thought Maybe there weren’t any sheets. No doubt it was hot and humid, so what for. The mattresses were vinyl covered. Maybe they just slept in their clothes or underwear. Difficult unpleasant life.

    WWII submarine laundry

Thanks! Once I toured a WW II submarine in Cleveland, OH. Not for the claustrophobic. But fascinating. I was surprised to see a GE wringer washer with a photo on the wall of a guy doing laundry in it. The first thought that crossed my mind was: well how did they rinse the clothes without...

EC30 Detergent Swatches (Tide Tiles) vs. Tide Ultimate Stain Release

Yes, definitely Must subtract the pre-treat amount of detergent from the main wash dose. Especially if it’s American Persil in a front loader. Or you’d be very sorry. I assumed that went without saying. But shouldn’t have. I stain so few clothes that it’s not really an issue for me.
