Softner, liquid & sheet type perfume Smell ?

Yogitunes Try Suavitel. The Field Flowers scent lasts and lasts. I was cleaning out a bureau drawer a while back, and I could still smell it. That was in 2013 and the last time I had that brand was around 2009.

Softner, liquid & sheet type perfume Smell ?

I think the dryer sheets cause more of a problem with moisture sensor models than standard thermostat auto dry. My grandmother's Kenmore was bought new in 1981 and is still going strong with dryer sheets in every load. Same thing with my 2007 Frigidaire. However, neither has a moisture sensor...

    Uninformed Washer Users

In my younger years as a laundromat user, I have seen: A woman put unflushed poopy cloth diapers in a washer and not clean it out after she was done. Sad thing is, the washing machine afterwards smelled better than her and her family. People put 1 1/2 cups of Tide into a single load Philco...

More twin tubs now in Oz.

Again...far from the mainstream... ...but I would buy a full size twinnie in a heartbeat, especially if it had spin rinsing. Like a wringer machine, I can get through a week's laundry in the time it takes a new HE machine to do a single load, and reuse the wash water to boot.

Dishwasher Detergent Test - Phosphated vs Regular

I'm Glad (or rather, sorry) It's Not Just Me I miss the old phosphate detergents. My old Kenmore (Frigidaire) and my current GE dishwasher never had yibble issues with phosphated detergents. If I don't scrape carefully, I do get them with the new formulas....especially in the top rack since I...

Advice on the purchase of a portable dishwasher

I Have the GE Portable... ...and my mother has the Maytag branded Whirlpool portable. Mine has given me reliable service for the last several years, but hers washes circles around mine. The WP design also lets a lot more dishes be squeezed in. Noise level is pretty comparable.

    Bluing Powder Recipe

One word of warning; if you improperly mix it in, it will also leave blue marks like the La France did. I found that out on a load of old yellowing wash cloths. The baking soda does give the detergent an extra bit of kick but most don't need it nowadays.

    Bluing Powder Recipe

I miss the old La France and Blu White powders. The other day I was surfing the web and I came across this recipe: 1 1/2 cups baking soda 1/4 teaspoon Prussian Blue pigment (art supply store) I mixed up a batch this morning. I added enough for pale sky blue water. It works beautifully. Just...

Do you use a Rinse Aid?

I dutifully fill my rinse aid dispenser. I use the Cascade Complete, but I can definitely tell a difference with my dishwasher.

If you had to buy a vintage washer with no atc water temp with a warm rinse what brand and model

In order of preference... GE Filter Flo Maytag (any with long stroke agitation) Belt Drive Whirlpool Any agitator with the above. All of them are built like tanks and I would have no problem using any of them as aa daily driver.

Update: Well got my wringer washer up and running but there's a problem...

Question: Before you dig into anything too deeply, does yours have the optional timer? My E2L did something similar and it was the timer being cranky.

Removing Broken Motor Shaft Screw From DW

That's too bad about the space. I understand; I have a small galley style kitchen and it was a real challenge getting room for a full size portable. Alas, traffic patterns do not allow a built-in either. I have to do some comical maneuvers to do anything in the kitchen when it's washing.

Removing Broken Motor Shaft Screw From DW

Hi Launderess! I used to have one of the little D&M dishwashers like you described. When it died, I bought a GE portable new from the Home Depot. I did this because I wasn't impressed with the newer stainless 18" models. They really do hold less than my old one did. The GE has been in service...

    Spic-n-Span

According to Wikipedia, the original formula was equal parts ground up glue (??!), sodium carbonate, and trisodium phosphate. I'm thinking a good strong nice smelling soap would work in place of the glue. I have some older bars I need to use up. I see an experiment in my near future.

Companies that you stick to/have never cared about/stopped using them

Here's my list. Like and use Whirlpool appliances (in all their incarnations) have always given me good service at a reasonable price. Another vote for IKEA. Same reasons. Zote soap. Dirt cheap soap in huge bars that I use for pretreating and hand washing. Palmolive dishwashing liquid...

    Replacement for commercial cascade

I have been tempted to try the Bubble Bandit, but I get good results in my water with Cascade Complete powder. Has anyone compared the two?
