    NPT Threads

I have just bought a couple of water filters from Screwfix but I'm not sure about what fittings to use to connect pipes to them, as they have 3/4" NPT threads. Most plumbing parts available in Hungary are actually imperial sizes rather than metric but I think the threads are all BSP, the British...

    Hotpoint Liberator Dryer 1701 re-build

Wow! That is real dedication to put so much work into a humble Hotpoint dryer.

    My new zanussi fl812!

As said, a very well made machine. The only weak point was the timer knob assembly so treat it gently when selecting the wash. The plastic teeth break off until eventually the knob turns without turning the timer.

More help ;) Indesit 610 G washer parts spec?

If I recall correctly, some of these Indesits didn't have actual bearings you could remove and replace but the races were cast into the hubs. Indesits of that era were a nightmare to work on anyway as there were so many changes in parts spec. and there was a very high probability of receiving...

Who doesn't use a pillowcase? Or how do I clean a caseless bed pillow

My mother used to make pillow cases out of old sheets and use them underneath the bought ones, so there was extra protection for the pillows. You could do the same with old, faded pillow cases.

    Hotpoint 9534

It might be worth cleaning out the pressure vessel. This is a banana shaped vessel fixed by 3 screws near the bottom of the plastic tub. If it is getting silted up with soap residue it could reduce the water levels. You probably need to remove the cabinet front to get at it.

    Service quartz club

Look for chafed wires first. If wiring OK disconnect the motor plug and try it. If it still trips put the motor plug back, disconnect both heater wires and try it. Also look at the mains filter which goes to the mains cable.

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

The dog is Charlie, my elderly Basset Hound who is actually American but had languished in boarding kennels for over a year before I got him. No, I bought 4 items, the stove, a pick-axe and 2 long handled shovels for the total price of 5000 Forints. The digging tools are needed for a job at the...

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

Replacement Well I bought another cooker yesterday so it saves me trying to get parts for the Gorenje. This was advertised as an "outside cooker" so I was expecting it to be something designed for outside use like a gas barby or a camping cooker. It turns out it is just a normal kitchen...

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

There are some plated steel covers with elongated screw holes which I think are used to adjust the mixture, they were both set at fully open.

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

It looks like the problem is more serious than a missing knob. I took a gas bottle and regulator and tried the one burner that has a knob. I lit it but only got a tiny flame then it went out with a pop. I'm thinking the gas to air mixture might be wrong i.e. too weak. I've tried to do some...

    Today's P.O.D. 4/5/14 loaded Hotpoint!

"Definite TOL Hotpoint's- couldn't ask for anything more in a washer or dryer." Does it have a wash heater? The reason I ask is there are no actual temperature numbers on the temperature dial.

About as BOL as it gets.

"How much more "basic" can you get than this set?" Well, you could just have the washer and no dryer. I've washed my own clothes since 1981 and never felt the need to own a tumble dryer.

About as BOL as it gets.

Yes, I would have thought a clockwork timer would be the simplest and cheapest form of dryer control.

    Sodium percarbonate

The parcel came today so a bit quicker than expected. Total cost was 13.90 Euros so a lot cheaper than the Thetford stuff.

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

Thanks Alistair, Yes, it is a rural location so the gas will be in bottles. I have something similar here in Hungary. In winter I have an Aga type wood burning cooking range but for the summer I use an old 1976 Flavel caravan 2 burner cooker on bottled butane / propane mix. I did intend to buy...

    Gorenje dual fuel cooker

I have just bought a house in Croatia and it comes with a Gorenje cooker with 2 gas burners and 2 electric plates. It looks like it has been used just on gas, as the mains cable is missing. Did these just come with a normal mains cable and plug, like you would have on a washing machine? I've...

    Sodium percarbonate

Thanks for the suggestion. I have actually ordered a German product, Enders Ensan Blue, 5 litres. I hope there's no mistake as I appear to be getting free delivery from Germany to Hungary. The only problem is Amazon are quoting 7 to 21 working days for delivery!

    Sodium percarbonate

I have one of those Thetford porta-potty chemical toilets which I want to use for a few days but I don't have the chemicals. I was just reading an Australian caravan forum and most people use stuff called "Napisan". They say this is sodium percarbonate. Caravans are not popular here in Hungary...
